 | | | | Discover the most secluded bay and hotel in Bodrum | Tip Rating: | | | | |
Paradise Bay in Bodrum,Turkey is one of the most amazing places I've ever visited. The geographical structure of the bay is very interesting, providing the most beautiful sceneries ever. The sea is very clear ,the color is turquoise blue and you can see all kinds of fish without a snorkel. It's so quiet and calm, and so refreshing. You can stay at the ony building in the bay,The Atami Hotel. It's a family run, small luxury hotel by the seaside with a very nice wooden jetty where you can sunbathe and swim. The owners of the hotel are very respectful to this beautiful environment. They planted lots of trees and greens in their garden to hide their property in nature and are recycling water, compositing garbage etc. Their service is very friendly and intimate and the food is marvellous, cookde by the Japanese hostess of the hotel. The bay and the hotel are definitely the right places for complete relaxing escape holidays. Their website is: www.atamihotel.com and tel:+90 252 357 74 17 Paradise Bay might be difficult to find if you don't know the way. Even residents of Bodrum might not know the place. To reach there, take the minibus to Golkoy from Bodrum central coach station and then take a taxi. To reach there by car, take the Torba junction before reaching Bodrum. Go to Golturkbuku village. Follow the signs of 'iberhotel', a very big holiday village near Golkoy, and half the way you come accross Atami Hotel's signs. Then just follow the Atami signs to reach the Paradise Bay. | | | | LABRANDA was one 'off the... | Tip Rating: | | | | |
LABRANDA was one 'off the beaten' we visited. It's about 50-60km from Bodrum towards Izmir and about 12km from Milas. Labranda was a religious center. It was connected with Milas by a sacred road. Labranda also had a sacred pool of fish adorned with earrings and necklaces. These fish were thought capable of making YES or NO prophecies by accepting or refusing food offered to them after question. Labranda never grew any larger than a village, leaving today's ruins with an intimate atmosphere. Set high on a hill in a grove of pine trees above Milas, Labranda is well worth the bumpy ride required to get there. In Labranda you can see the foundation of a large Temple of Zeus, as well as a marble building, which may have harbored the sacred fish. Also included are the solid Andron, or men's club, with galls almost 2 meter thick, and a tomb on the hillside above the temple site (worth steep climbing, the view is stunning). The keeper of the site is a very friendly guy, though he knows a couple of words in English and a couple in German, but he was eager to show us around and helped a lot climbing the steep hill in order to see the tomb. He also offered to buy a small jar of local honey (one can see apiary nearby). We did buy the honey, the taste is delicious!!! Leave a Comment

Mausoleion Open Air Museum It gets its name from the fact that the tomb of Mansolosiun, the King of Caria, is located here. His wife, also his sister, had the most famous architects of the day design the structure. It was almost completely destroyed in the Great Anatolian earthquake. There is a small museum here at the site of this tomb which was one of the seven wonders of the ancient world. The word "mausoleum" is taken from King Mausolos' name. Many of the stones of this Mausoleum were used in the construction of Bodrum Castle. The beautiful reliefs on the grave, however, were taken to the British Museum during the excavations in the 19th century. Leave a Comment
