Each October, in what is traditionally the last week of the tourist season, Bodrum holds its annual yacht regatta. Any nationality can enter their boat and the town becomes quite busy in this week. Nightlife is supposed to be quite good as the yacht crews finish their days work. Bodrum is one of the best known scuba centers of Turkey. Almost every corner of the peninsula offers nice oppotunities for scuba funs.

Bodrum (and the other resorts on the peninsula) is a haven for people who want to do water sports - snorkelling, fishing trips, scuba diving, water skiing, jet skiing and wind surfing are all available at very reasonable rates. Follow the usual precautions and ensure that the schools you use to taech you have international qualifications available and check their websites to ensure that you meet any health and prior experience requirements. Football is one of the most popular activities for Turkish people to do and watch and it will inevitable have an impact on your holiday. Many matcheds take place during the holiday months.
The bars and clubs play significant matches and bars will fill with locals wanting to have a quick drink and shout at the big screens.
Turks are as passionate about footballl as Brits are!

There are a lot of diving centres to choose from in Bodrum and also one in Turgureis.
WARNING: this area of the Med is devoid of coral and fish. For a confirmed diver, there is hardly anything to see apart from a few bits of amphoras and the odd octopus (generally being harassed by the local dive guide).
Bodrum is probably a good place to learn to dive but has nothing much to offer to teh confirmed diver, in my opinion.
You can hire everything locally. The gear I rented was OK without being great (main reg was a bit wet, first jacket I tried did not inflate). Bring your computer if you have one. Leave a Comment Theme: Scuba DivingDirections: All boats depart from the marina.
