The beach at Gumbet is a great escape from the frenzy of Bodrum Town and is only a short taxi ride (or Dolmus if you like) away.
The beach is of a good quality and has a range of watersports and activities available.
Many of the sun loungers are available but at a small cost (about 5YTL) but this is for the whole day. If you do not wish to purchase the time on sun beds you can just lounge on your beach towel at no charge!!
The beach is surrounded by hotels and food outlets so there is no shortage of places to buy a snack or drink (and occassionally people come to sell fresh fruit on the beach too).
THe beach in Bodrum itself is not really very good (shingle and very small so try this beach or some of the others around the peninsula (Bardaci etc).
This is pleace , there you can stay in a hotel,go out at nigth, lay down in the sun, swim and enjoy your holiday. This is a town which belongs to Bodrum , especially Brithish and Dutch people you can see around a lot.But the most important thing is you can spend your whole holiday there.Cause you will find everything there. Also watersports.
You have no idea how much memories I have in this place. Gumbet is the place where I spent all of my summer days between '85 & '89. Where I learned to windsurf and then worked as an instructor for 3 summers in a row. Even though my family had a nice house 2 miles away, I chose to stay in my tent 50 yards away from the sea and the surf boards..:)) The number of hotels/motels went form a handful to hundreds in 15 years. It got ridiciluosly crowded and ugly compared to what I remember of Gumbet. It used to be the camping and swimming spot cuz it's so very close to Bodrum. There were these jeeps (acting as a dolmus) that were leaving from the bus terminal in Bodrum every 5 -10 min to take you to Gumbet. It's about 10 min ride for a small fee, and they will stop anywhere you asked them to. Btw, Gumbet is the name given to these little white-domed cisterns.
The beach in Gumbet, just outside Bodrum centre, is one of the best beaches in the Bodrum peninsula.
Just take the dolmus [mini bus] to Gumbet about 15 mins. A nice village resort by the sea. It has good beaches
