Datça is a dream, i went there following my best friend recommendation. To be honest, i was skeptic at first because Datça looks like a "too calm" place for me.
But i was surprised by the general atmosphere of Datça, it's quiet during the day, it's clean and locals are very friendly and welcoming.
Prices are not so cheap by comparison to Bodrum or Marmaris, however I found a fantastic hotel, which is cheap and offers a high quality service. It's HOTEL TROPICANA, friendly, cheap and well situated in Datça.
As a restaurant, I recommand the "Zekeriya sofrazi" in the center of Datça, food is local and prices are cheap as well.
If you look after a preserved, natural, friendly, authentic, romantic place, Datça is your destination. I'd to thanks my friend for his recommendation and I wanted to share my pleasure with all of virtualtourist visitors.

There is twice ferryboat to Bodrum from Datca at 09:00 and 17:00. You can return at 17:00 to Datca. The voyage takes 2.5 hours. The ferryboat departs from Kormen port. You need to take a bus from Datca to the port.

At least one ferry leaves Symi Town harbour on Saturday mornings, for the short journey to Datca, returning around 16.30.
Tickets can be bought from tour companies, or directly from the boat captain. Look for the blackboard near the Triton/Poseidon boats that gives details of times and prices.
Passports need to be handed to the Captain the day before, so your details can be processed by Customs.
I'm not sure if there is a Datca to Symi return trip yet.
Please see my Symi Page, for tips on pre departure, and things to do on a day trip to Datca

In summer time there is regular boats 2 times per day (09:00 and 17:00) from Bodrum to Datca(kormen) and vice versa. Normally the road from bodrum to datca is very long and the road conditions are difficult this ferryboats can help to minimize the time (2 hours) and the risks of the road.Kormen is the port of Datca and its situated only 10 km to Datca.
I advice this transportation specially for motor raiders...

If you're coming in the summer season May-Sep .You can come to Bodrum Airport and the from Bodrum to Datca by ship. It's a nice road trip.
Another choice is coming from Marmaris by car or bus.Dalaman Airport is close to Marmaris.

Most of tourists choose to go to Datca and Knidos by boat, that's why on our road we didn't meet too many cars or tourists.
Still, as a boat cruise is a traditional way to enjoy Turkey's magnificent scenery, in Knidos harbor there were 2 or 3 boats with tourists that came to spend a wonderful day in this ancient town.

All the road from Marmaris to Datca and then to Knidos winds among mountains as high as 1400 meters, pine and eucalyptus forests and small turquoise-water bays.
In my opinion going by car to Knidos is the best way to get in contact with the genuine nature and see one of the most beautiful landscape.
And it's also a good opportunity to test you spirit of adventure in this spectacular peninsula.

I went to a couple of bus companies before I found one selling tickets to Marmaris (didn’t think it was going to be so hard). I was looking for Pamukkale bus company for a long time and went streets up and down, nobody seemed to know the exactly where it was. Finally I found the office a couple of blocks north of Cumhuriyet Caddesi. From the office there was a service bus in the morning.
The bus ride to Marmaris took about 6 hours. In Marmaris I waited half an hour for the dolmush to Datca. The ticket could be bought in a ticket office at the otogar (bus station). The dolmush to Datca took 1 hour 45 minutes. Arriving in Datca I had no clue where to get off the bus. I asked for Tunc Pansiyon and the bus stopped just by the street leading to the pension.
The ticket Antalya – Marmaris was 23 000 000 TL and the ticket
Marmaris Datca was 7 000 000 TL.

There is a ferry from Körmen (near Datca) to Bodrum at 9 am. You can buy the ticket from the ferry office in Datcha and they have a service bus, which will take you to the ferry, and it leaves Datca about 8.30.
The price was in July 2004 15 000 000 TL (ferry and service bus) and the boattrip to Bodrum harbour took about two hours.
