Ovacik/Hiseronu is no different than any other tourist resort as in everybody is there as a business to make money,so when restaurant staff stand outside and hand you their business cards and written on it is'If you dine here tonight we will knock 10% of your bill'dont fall for it.
Its true they will give you a 10% discount, but so will every other restaurant as well.
Unique Suggestions: Just check out the menu's,the more on a menu the less likely the food will be that good,a smaller menu means more care and effort will have gone into that dish.
Fun Alternatives: There are a lot of restaurants in Hiseronu so just shop around.
We found the following places to be reasonably priced with excellent food:Shangai Blues chinese restaurant,The Megri,Oz Saray and the Lemon Tree.Enjoy.
Unlike fixed price shopping here in Britain, bartering in the shops (as well as markets) is an expected custom. Shops can be a tourist trap if you're not used to the concept.
Shop keepers will offer you a 'special price' for their 'special customers' which seems to be a few Lira off the starting price. Don't be wooed by this charm, the shop keepers are always willing to lower the price further so make sure you negotiate a price that you are happy with.
Unique Suggestions: The key to good bartering is having confidence. If the price isn't right, don't be afraid to walk away. They are likely to call you back and if they don't, there will be someone selling the same products a few shops (or stalls) along.
They charge exorbitant prices and are totally disorganised. When our boat broke down (we paid £70 for the day) and we floated aimlessly for 2 hours we didnt even get an apology!
