Miscellaneous: Take sterling. Your apartment, or many restaurants, hotels or corner shops, will give yo ua better exchange rate than you got at home. Our record was 8% better.
I was surprised and pleased in this context that Garantia bank's ATM's will actually dispense sterling - and, amazingly, it looks as though there was no charge for this if I've read my statement correctly.
Mosquitos - How to prevent bites!
Toiletries and Medical Supplies: Some years ago we were given some advise of how to deter the Mossies from biting us.
This has certainly worked for us, even thoguh we will return home with a couple of bites This is nothing compared to what we use to receive.
Firstly, take garlic tablets twice daily, and, at least two weeks from departure. Continue taking them whilst you are on holiday.
Obtain some "Tea Tree Skin Lotion" Try the Body Shop as this is normally hard to purchase, make sure this lotion is at least 80% pure.
Rub the lotion in on exposed parts of your skin whilst on holiday especially at night.
Mossie's we are advised hate the smell of garlic, and detest "Tea Tree Oil"

Currency 2 - note to Scots travellers
Miscellaneous: Now - I have no idea why - but it is true that Scottish banknotes are 10% (sic) less valuable to the Turks than English ones, as reflected in the exchange rates offered in the town of Icmeler.
Is Alex Salmond planning a devaluation after independence? I think we should be told.
I hear - second hand and no primary reference - that the visa people at Turkish immigration at the airports won't accept Scottish notes.
Swallow your pride and take Bank of England currency.
