We always use the local supermarket in the resort to buy our bread and other self catering supplies.
What to buy: My grandson loves milk in England and after much trial and error the milk that tasts similair to our own semi-skimmed milk is "Pinar" milk in the green and white container
What to pay: 250YTL a litre

Wednesday is market day in Icmeler and this is a real shopping experience. There is everything for sake here - leather goods, food, lace , fruit and vegetables, shoes etc.
Prices do not exist on the none food items - this is a case of haggle and haggle. Some traders can be too pushy but stand your ground and you should walk out with a bargain - bear in mind though all the name brands are fake but in many cases are as good as the real item.

There is a Tansas supermarket in the town centre on the road that leads out to Marmaris. About the same size as a Tesco Metro or Sainsburys Local in the UK and it sells all the basics anyone needs. There is a good fresh meat display and a good fruit and vegetable display.
Air conditioned and clean with a cafe at the exit this is the best place to food shop in the town.
Open from 09 00 to 00.00.

Shops abound everywhere and market on Wednesday.
What to buy: Turkey is a great value place to shop for leather goods and gold and silver.
.
There are no copyright laws in Turkey so fake designer labels are everywhere. Tee shirts, handbags, watches, jeans, shoes in fact you name it they've probably got it.
What to pay: 8 tee shirts= £10 sterling
4 handbags= £10 sterling
2 pair jeans= £10 sterling
50 pair boxer shorts= £10 sterling (see a pattern)
"rolex" watch = £5 sterling (ordinary copy. A really good quality one will set you back £25)
Of course, all the above prices are variable. Haggling is the real skill and, if sticking to sterling you can often get the best deals e.g. 10 tee shirts for your tenner.

In general the shops in Icmeler are of a good range selling good gifts to take home but you will get the odd shop that will sell you tacky goods that won't even make it through the flight home without it falling apart, so check what you buy before you hand over your money

We found the best selection of shops down near Icmeler beach, they was either side of a small river that leads into the sea. I don't know what this shop was called but we had some good bargins here in the way of babys clothes
What to buy: Good selection of childrens clothes, also hand made table linen, towles and soft furnishings

Wednesday is market day in Icmeler and is it worth a visit, although the shope around the town do have the same items. The colours, selection of goods from shoes, clothes, trinkets, leather, jewellery, sports wear etc and of course the fruit and vegetable section which is wonderful. Best to get there early and gets very crowded by lunchtime. I could not resist the shoes and gifts. You must haggle though it is expected. You aim to pay around a third less that they first ask. Most of the shop keepers will try to hassle you but be firm and say you wish to look around without hassel and they normally comply. They are all so friendly though, you end up chatting for ages, wherever you go.Even the hairdressers tout for trade, which did not happen last year. I still loved shopping and would not be put off.
What to buy: Fake designer clothes at a good price, shoes, handbags, cotton houseware, sportswear, tea of every flavour, gifts etc.
What to pay: About a third of price in England

The market sells everything from fruit and veg, local crafts, clothes, shoes, flowers gifts etc.
You must haggle they expect it but do get upset if you walk away and do not buy. The friuit looks really delicious of the food part of the market too.
What to buy: Anything really, particularly, leather, shoes, fake goods of every description, Gold, silver and costume Jewellery.Clothes and trinkets too. Spoilt for choice and do not be afraid to haggle, even in the posher shops as well as the market. Myself and friends all got bargains as usual this year and rarely paid the asking price.
What to pay: at least 30 % less than they ask
