Boat Trip, Icmeler
Boat trip into Marmaris only £2 each way. Lazy afternoon boattrips (sun / tues / thur) only £5 and good fun. Both Marmaris and Icmeler Market on a Thursday (busy with lots to buy and lots of haggling)
This was an ICR boat trip that had a Pirate Theme,
Everyone making an effort by either wearing an eye patch, sporting hooks and wooden legs and more muskets and cutlases to fill an armoury
This goup of Buccaneers left the ICR offices at about 9-30 am, all intent on having a good time.
We travelled to Marmaris in a small bus got dropped off at the harbour then boarded our pirate vessel.
Everyone had loads of room to stretch out because there was only about 24 pirates on the boat.
The day passed visiting the cave, fish farm,we had swim stops and a fantastic lunch, with as much as you could eat.
Some of the pirates who had done naughty things were made to ride the ringos,John getting all this on film.
The stop in Turunc was an afternoon to remember.
We all got off the boat and walked through the centre of Turunc, all dressed up in our pirate gear.
Shopkeepers came out of thier shops and gazed in awe as this bunch of skirvy cut-throats ambled through thier town.
We arrived at the Tavern (Bar 48 and ordered our grog.
In the tavern Phil gave his rendition of "From Paris To Berlin" surely he is a star in the making.
Buxom wenches were plentifull.
Donna led the dancing helped by Joanne.
People were stopping outside and even entering the bar to try and become part of the "ICR Buccaneers"
We had a fantastic day out with forum members it was a pleasure to meet you all.
Joanne summed it all up on the last leg of our sea voyage back to Icmeler,
As everyone was gazing up towards the warm sun gently carresing our faces she said.
"This Is What Memories Are All About"
Gokova Bay covers the magnifcent scenery of the gulf of Gokova whom Jaques Cousteue rates the pristine condition of the sea and beaches as the finest in Europe.
Visit English Harbour were boats off the English Fleet used to hide during the war.
Take photographs of the little mermaid a small sculptor in such a vast sea.
The scenery round this area is stunning so please take your cameras
Cleopatras Island A gift to Cleopatra from Mark Anthony.
White sands, old ruins,
Some people say three and a half hours is to long to spend here,
How long would you like to spend in Heaven.
I would reccomend taking plenty of water with you although I do understand that a cafe is on the Island.
This is a very good boat trip.
Take the bus along the Bozburun Penninsular from Icmeler, this takes about 45 mins to were the boat will leave.
Only 26 people are allowed on this boat and this is the amount of sunbeds on the top deck.
When you arrive at the boat you are offered tea or coffee before you set off on this adventure.
Music is always quiet and layed back, the scenery is georgeous and the sea crystal clear.
You will visit a ruined monastery on a hilltop were you can take pictures looking out over the bay to the mountains.
After a couple of swimming stops you then arrive at the American House, this is a huge abandoned estate built by a Turkish man for his American wife, and for reasons unbeknown to me was just left as you see it,furniture, beds etc all inside the house which is kept locked, there is a caretaker looking after the property.
Fantastic views are to be seen from the patio at the front of the house ,peace and tranquility reign.
It is while you are berthed here lunch is taken, bread, salad, meatballs, chicken ,more than enough to satisfy anyones appetite.
Saying goodby to these peacefull surroundings you then head out across the bay and visit another couple of secluded coves again for swimming breaks before returning to the small jetty were we set off.
A bus journey again brings us back to Icmeler
There are two options for sailing in the wonderful little craft that sail from Ismeler. You can go to either Marmaris for 10 L or Turunc for 15 L return. Either trip is worthwhile, especially Turunc where you hug the high cliffs along the coast to Turunc. (Go any day of the week to Turunc - the Monday market that is highly promoted consists of 4 stalls).
There are two small piers in Ismeler and boats stop at each. Many agents sell the boat trips bit all seem to charge the same price and there is little point trying to shop around.
The boats seem safe and we counted life belt provision for all passengers and all boats had radio contact with shore.
On this boat we had the most beautiful day, NO LOUD MUSIC, The boat was all our for the day and we could dictate the programme - unhurried swim breaks, snorkeling, oooh the views... The area is called the Turquoise cost and yu can see why.
The FINDING NEMO BOAT moored up in a PRIVATE bay and we were the only boat there we relaxed siping chilled wine and swam in transclucent water.
The food was to DIE FOR Captain Nemo being an Ex Hilton Hotel head chef.
We couldnt have had a better day, it certainly was our best the whole holiday, its the days holidays are made of! We booked them again the second week we had such a great time.
They can be found in Marmaris harbour the First Trip boat AFTER the 2 FISHERMEN pulling in their nets statue.
We have done the banana from the beach or from the boats when we have been on the boat trips.
A motor boats pulls you along at a fast speed twisting and turning so that in the end everyone is tumbled into the sea.
My problem at 65 year old was climbing back onto this long slippery rubber thing, and in the end was helped on by an obliging strapping bloke.
If you are into fishing, the Finding Nemo boat trip is a must
This was our 4th trip on te Finding Nemo boat on the 22nd feb 2009. We had a truly fabulous day with Linda and Ibo. A party of 5 for a full day this time, usually hubby and I. The fishing was great and a big thanks to Ibo for helping me overcome my fear of swimming in the sea. We dined liked kings on amazing food for lunch. the drinks are reasonably priced. They are great hosts together with puppy dog Mocha. I was sad to leave linda and Ibo, see you in 2010!!
I dare say that all of these would be excellent.
We were fortunate to go on a private one, with another family who were staying in apartments whose owner had his own boat. For TL 85 plus drinks, 6 of us had a day out sailing around the adjacent bays, swimming in the cool sea, going into a bar and a lovely lunch - so a special word to Mehmet Kurt of Kurt apartments!
The best boat to go on is bookable direct with its owners CAPTAIN NEMO of the FINDING NEMO BOAT This experienced Captain can give you "A catch guaranteed or your money back" this boat knows what its doing! This isnt a taxi boat with no Sonar and hand lines and worse NO TOILET! This boat has all facilities, SONAR, SUN AND SHADED SEATING AREAS, Hot and cold drinks, Toilet, Instruction in English, helpful friendsl crew, full insurance etc etc etc.
Book thei boat DIRECT not through an agent for the best deal.
EVERY ONE will catch a wide variert of Tricky Turkish fish and have a great time.
They do a 3 hours non private Fishing Trip as part of a mixed group with pick ups along the sea front in both Marmaris and Icmeler. Also they do FULL DAY CHARETR which can combine Fishing and SIGHTSEEING to please every member of your group and family.
A decent day out, but Dalyan is a long way from Icmeler/Marmaris by boat (about 1.5 hours.
Spend a couple of hours on Turtle Beach, then transfer into smaller boats to go up the Dalyan river.
The mud bath thing and the thermal springs are certainly not worth the long journey. If you were staying in Dalyan then they would be.
The Lycian tombs cut into the sheer rock face are incredible - but for the same reason they are rather inaccessible and a distant view is both impressive but at the same time all you're going to get out of them.
To quote Dr Johnson - "worth seeing, but not worth going to see" (at least from Icmeler/Marmaris)
However, Dalyan looked a very attractive town, on its lovely river. It will be popular as it is close to Dalaman airport.
You really can't beat a boat trip on the Aegean. The water is blue and cool, the sun is shining, and the Turks just love to have you there - not just for your money - ie they ensure you have a good time.
There are any number of boat trips. This year we booked through Majestic restaurant (ask for Mehmet) and 1 adult and 4 kids went for TL60 (25 GBP) not including drinks - be a bit careful - not extortionate but substantially more than bars or supermarkets.
Probably less enjoyable than the other trip on my pages, but cheaper :-)
