Favorite thing: Mugla s Marmaris district is undoubtely one of Turkýye s most popular tourist destinations.Tourism make up a large proportion of the citsy s income but still most locals makes their living from agriculture.ýn te past before tourism the main source of income was the cultivation of citrus peanuts and sesame seeds.there was also some fishing and sponge diving.Pine honey still is important for MARMARIS.

Favorite thing: if you are thinking of booking a holiday in the club lunarmar hotel and apartments in the armutalan area of marmaris,i'd think twice before booking.it is a thomas cook backed hotel and the standards are poor to say the least.the poolside bar/cafe is staffed by untrained waiters and kitchen staff and they all go to the toilet without washing their hands.then handling and serving fresh food and meals.they smoke behind the bar and then go around the front again to serve food without washing their hands.the cough and sneeze directly into food.food waste is just thrown into the street behind the poolsde bar everyday.rats have been seen in the kitchen area also..so if you stay there make sure you have good holiday insurance.that will cover you for hospitalisation ect!the local council health department visited the premises 3 times in 2 weeks this summer...need i say more! jaylou

Favorite thing: Not really a tip, but on the way to Datca, there were lots of this bright Yellow Flower growing beside the road. I wondered whether it was a weed? and what was its name?
Also, returning to Bodrum from Marmaris, passing through a certain section were all these ?in the trees, they looked like Birds Nests. We do have Birds nests like this in Australia.
If you know the answers, would you be kind enough to let me know. I'm most interested to find out!

Favorite thing: Heading back to Bodrum from Marmaris, I was surprised to see the most beautiful two rows of Australian Gum Trees. It looked like they really enjoyed the Turkish climate, as they had grown well!
They are located on the roadside near Gokova.

Favorite thing: Turkish cuisine is very rich. It is a must to have Turkish coffee after sea food, meat dishes and deserts. The famous honey of Marmaris can be tasted and purchased.
Fish is served in the restaurants around the wharf and the marina, on the Marmaris-Içmeler coast line, as well as in Çiftlik, Orhaniye, Selimiye, Bozburun and the Sögüt Saranda district.
Turkish cuisine can be found around the town while international cuisines and fast foods are located in the city centre and in Armutalan and Içmeler. Village dishes, gözleme , manti (Turkish ravioli) can found in and around restaurants in Bayir, Çiftlik, Turgut, Orhaniye and Çamlik. Open buffet in the hotels are also rich with local delicacies.

Favorite thing: Instead of taking an organized tour to Rhodes, we had a wonderful insight into a Turkish port city that we would call the Turkish Riviera. Many big yachts and pleasure craft and sail boats along the piers and big marina. It was very gorgeous...very tropical with lots of flowers. This was my fondest memory. Passing many harbour-front restaurants, there were lots of places to stop for a meal or a drink. Shopkeepers were courteous and humorous as they invited us in. Walking through the bazaar and shops and thru little alleys up to the simple Castle/Museum (small entry fee) was really enjoyable. Shopping here was the best bargain since they do not use Euros. It was thoroughly enjoyable if you were not wanting a history lesson.

Favorite thing: You can change your euro/dollars/pounds in many exchange offices. Most of them don’t have commission but the rate changes sometimes so if you want to change a big amount maybe its better to find the cheapest one although the differences are not so big. The days I was there the rate with euro was 1e-1.65tl til 1e-1.68tl.
Dont forget that is a tourist town so you can easily use your euro/dollars for shopping.
