Those who want to learn diving can apply to the diving training boats at the pier. Diving lessons are given by licensed divers on these tours. There are 52 diving points around Marmaris which is one of the important regions of Turkey from the point of diving tourism.
Some diving points worth seeing around Marmaris are as follows:
Sari Mehmet Promontory: The promontory and its bay which is between Turunç and Içmeler, is a beautiful diving point for diving lessons and experienced divers. It has a rocky structure of 5 to 21 m in depth.
Goat Island Lighthouse: It is the promontory where the lighthouse is located when sailing out to the open sea from Marmaris. The diving point starts from 8-10m, descending to 38m, pleasurable to the experienced diver.
Ince Burun Lighthouse is located at side of the Yildiz Island facing Marmaris Bay. Underwater sight is poor compared to open sea diving points. Ranging between 3m to 38m, this place has a real tropical sea view.
Hayitli Burun: Located opposite to the Goat Island Lighthouse at the exit of Marmaris. Named as a Reef by the divers, it is an easy point for boats to drop anchor.
Abdi Reis Bay: Located at the open sea side of Yildiz Island. It is a beautiful diving point named Aquarium by the divers due to the clearness of the water.
Yazih Kaya: A diving point of 3m to 30-32m in depth on the open sea side of Yildiz Island.
Baca Cave : Most famous cave in Marmaris, definitely attracting the attention of underwater photographers.
Aksu Bay: On the open sea side of Yildiz Island, the color changes to dark blue when diving deeper which excites divers. This diving point is good for training dives, experienced divers and for those who stay on the boat and don’t wish to dive but simply enjoy the magnificent scenery and relax.
Kütük Burnu: 0 to 52 m in depth, is very convenient for wall diving. A fascinating bottom may tempt divers to go beyond limits. Divers should be careful at this point.
Kadirga Bay : Located at the furthest point to Marmaris, at the rocks opposite Kadirga Lighthouse. It has a beautiful Reef 0 to 38-40m in depth.
Enjoy it !!!!
Fishing with "A catch guaranteed or your money back" = Well it could only be done in Turkey = sounded too good to be true! I have to say what a knowlegable captain and help from his first mate were the FINDING NEMO BOAT CREW! We went initially on a 3 hours fishing trip cost about £ 25 each fisher was half price for the Non Fishers - this included rod, bait and the obligatory Fishing Licence. What a great time we had! The boat was comfortable with sun and shaded areas and plenty of choice of drinks, they had a toilet and had all the correct legal stuff Insy=urances, safety licences etc. We all caught loads of fish thanks to the explanation how to Fish in Turkey 2 of us hadnt fished before = everyone is hooked literally now = so much so we booked for the Full day private Trip the next week!
The full day we combined with snorkeling and fishig the captain taking us to some greats spots for both, we snorkeled in a cave and over some ship wrecks and we fished in some beautiful loaction in middle of the bay at about 38meters and aslo in the shollows, catching a wide variety of species. Captian Nemo cooked the Red snapper we caught and served it to us in a lovely quiet bay with no other boats about = Bliss. His food was to die for = nice to have real Turksih food too! We did some sightseeing and had the boat all to ourselves, it really was the best Day of our Holiday!
Equipment: No need to bring your own gear, Fishing rods are included in the Fishing Trip price but you are welcome to bring your own too!
Take suncream if your out in the sun.
No need to bring any drink they had loads of choice both hot and cold on board at reasonable prices.
If you have the nerve then this is for you. Pictured on the left of the photo is a reverse bungy jump. You are strapped inside this round metal cage and that is then streched down to the ground where you are then shot up into the sky like a bloody rocket, i can tell you that this is not for the faint hearted
Equipment: No equipment needed
On most large holiday resorts you will find one of these THE BANNANA BOAT. This is a real screem, but make sure you close your mouth if you are unlucky enough to be tipped off. I did not and ended up swollowing half the mediteranian sea hahahahaha.
Equipment: Lifejackets provided
If you have never had a go at this then you do not know what you are missing, its exiting, thrilling, and the view you get is amazing and its only ?15 pounds from Marmaris beach
Equipment: Lifejackts suppied. And if you are afraid of heights then spare underpants are not supplied hahahahha
This was a great laugh and very stomach churning as well so don't try this with a belly full of beer hahahahaha. This thing spins you in every angle you can think of.
Equipment: You might be advised to bring a spare pair of pants with you hahahahaha.
Marmaris town is located at the south-western corner of Turkey where coastal shoreline provides some of the most beautiful and unspoilt cruising spots in the world. Here you may find many opportunities for day sailing and cruising . The geographical location of the town is 36° 51'N, 28° 16 'E and Netsel Marina is built right next to the old town. Marmaris is sixty miles , one and half hour drive over pine covered hills to Dalaman International Airport. The Island of Rhodes is only 25 miles away to the south
Equipment: Two concrete block breakwaters enclose a total area of nearly one hectar providing easily accessible berthing of yachts up to 40 meters L . O . A . The marina features a floating concrete docking system where yachts are tied stern to. Berths are spacious enough to allow berth holderss to sail their boats whenever they wish. The piers are made of Swedish patented floating concrete pontoons, firmly anchored to concrete blocks for safe mooring . The Marina provides all weather protection for over 750 yachts.
Berths may be reserved or confirmed by telephone , fax or post and by the completion and signature of our standart mooring contract along with payment of applicable berthing fees in advance.
Scuba diving around Marmaris is highly recommended. You can find your divemaster through an agency (cheaper) or at the pier in Marmaris. I can recommend diving with Barakuda Brothers.
Equipment: They offer all the equipment you may need - from beginners to advanced divers. They do not have NITROX, however.
Since it was my first dive, I can't really complain, I don't have any point of comparison. However my friends who were already much more experienced were quite deceived, they were promised a wreck and a cave but at the end, they haven't seen anything...
What I can say is that the first site was full of nice different fishes. The second one was already much less fishy and our monitor had to play some tricks to keep us busy...
Again I'm not complaining, for me it was a great way to discover scuba diving! However it is true that what we have seen is not really different of what I have seen later on by snorkeling in some other creeks...
A really great experience!! For about 40€, you can dive two times. A first one in the morning and another one in the afternoon.
A monitor will be assigned to two newbies and he will always keep them hands in hands... You could find that quite frustrating, sometime you'd rather go on your own, but at least, that's much more secure like that...
I found the first dive quite stressing (although you don't go below 10 meters deep) but I was much more relaxed for the second one and really enjoyed it...
Obviously since this is designed for tourist, if you agree (but can you say no?) they'll take these nice low quality pictures of you, you have to buy later on... I'm not complaining, that's a rather great memory ;-)
Equipment: Just your swimming bath, everything else is provided.
One more photo of a peddelo in action, and after all that hard work it put me out of action hahahahaha.
This is a cheep way of sailing the sea but bloody hard work, my legs were killing me when i got off hahahahaha.
And here is the bannana boat just setting off with my nephews on it
