    Private mooring

by JLBG Written Jan 7, 2009

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Marmaris is a very busy city in summer. The harbor is especially crowded and very noisy with plenty of yachts.
Luckily, our chartering company had its clubhouse with a private pier, half a mile away from the town. The place was quiet and nevertheless, we could walk easily in town.

    Authenna and Amnistos (Karacasögüt)

by traveloturc Updated Mar 9, 2008

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Authenna is a small Rhodes town. The remains are at Altinsivri Hill, around 2 kms southeast of Sögüt Village. As you get closer to the hill and the city necropolis, you will see rock tombs and cisterns. Amnistos remains are on a promontory close to Sögüt. Some wall remains and the old port walls at the shore line still exist today from the old city.

Here and there in Marmaris - typical views

by WanderingFinn Written Mar 8, 2008

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Just a glimpse to what kind of views are typical when walking around in Marmaris. Streets are mainly clean and well maintained, there are lots of palm trees everywhere. Also flowers.

The surroundings may change - from flat houses and hotels and beach resorts to an urban area with block houses and shops.

Very typical are, naturally in a muslim country, numerous beautiful mosques with their minarets from which you can here the prayer calls.

The statues of Atatürk (whole name Mustafa Kemal Atatürk) can be seen in many places. He is the hero of many of the Turkish people. He was an army officer, revolutionary statesman, and founder of the Republic of Turkey as well as its first President.

In Turkey you see Kemal Atatrk everywhere An urban view to Marmaris A typical mosque in Turkey A typical minaret of a mosque Nice surroundings; clean streets and palm trees

    Phoinix (Taslica)

by traveloturc Updated Mar 8, 2008

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

The remains of Phoinix, a Carian City, is on and around Asar Hill 4kms outside Taslica. Somewhere in the middle between Taslica and Asar Hill agora of the city, climbing up the hill , remains of a building and later the necropolis (cemetery) of the city can be seen. The acropolis of the city is on Asar Hill. Rather than the remains on the hill, the view overlooking the area is more attractive.

    Castabus (Pazarlik)

by traveloturc Updated Mar 8, 2008

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

This holy place close to Hisarlik Village can be reached by an hours climb from the Hisarönü plain. Today, only the platform and the dazzling walls supporting the platform are left from the Ion style temple of 4th century BC. Together with the temple, the ruined theatre located in the south of the area, is the only building in the region that can be recognized.

    Sedir Island (Kedrai)

by traveloturc Written Mar 8, 2008

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Kedrai/Sedir Island in the Gökova Gulf is well known for the antique Kedrai city and the famous Cleopatra Beach. Kedrai was a Carian city until it was connected to Rhodes. Kedrai, being the most important settlement centre of the opposite side (Karþýyaka) of Rhodes was surrounded by city walls. While the tower and the city walls could be seen at the shore, the Apollo Temple in Doric style which is located in the middle of the city now preserves only the foundation. At the east of the city there are some building remains, Agora and the theatre which seem to be in good condition facing the north of the city.

  • Hisar Country Club . A perfect day out.

    by tufan1 Written Jul 10, 2006

Actually this is not a thing to do its a complaint about the Hisar Country Club in Marmaris advertising A perfect day out.
I helped them out while their riding instructor went home for holiday. I looked after twelve horses alone for two weeks drove in total 2500 km and never got payed. Well still nothing. As far as I am concerned they are cons riding on their own esteem which according to me isnt much = lies upon lies. Its actually incredible how people like this consider themselves business men. Very convincing for some.
