    Very easy to use these busses. Cheap (€0,6) and easy to recognise (orange busses go from Marmaris to Içmeler, green dolmus bus goes from Içmeler to Marmaris). The bus station is near the big Maxi Tansas shop in the centre (near Burger King).

    Turkish Airlines serves the airport of Dalaman (DLM), 120 km away from Marmaris, with daily flights from Istanbul. Many tourists arrive with chapter flights from all over Europe, especially in the summer months. There are buses that connect the airport with Marmaris. But Turkey has an excellent bus network so you can easily reach Marmaris from many other cities across the mainland. The bus station is at the northeast part of the town, 20’ walking from the Marina but better take a taxi. There are several bus companies, just go there at ask for timetables and prices. The companies have more or less the same prices but not the same services. My favorite is Pamukalle, an excellent company with modern buses, polite stuff, free tea/coffee and biscuits (!) for journeys that last more than 3 hours! Marmaris-Bodrum costs 15 TL (9euro) and takes 3,5 hours Marmaris-Izmir costs 22TL (13 euro) and takes 4,5 hours

Departure Times: Marmaris: From the Airport:Shuttle services scheduled according to the arrival times of THY/ OHY/FLY AIR and ATLAS JET to Dalaman Airport. From Marmaris: Shuttle services scheduled according to the departure times of THY/ OHY/FLY AIR and ATLAS JET planes from Dalaman Airport.Services are everyday at 06 :15 am 18:30 pm Fethiye: From the Airport: Shuttle services scheduled according to the arrival times of THY/ OHY/FLY AIR and ATLAS JET to Dalaman Airport. From Fethiye: Shuttle services scheduled according to the departure times of THY/ OHY/FLY AIR and ATLAS JET planes from Dalaman Airport.     If you are in Greece you can reach Marmaris from Rhodes with an hydrofoil. It takes only 1 hour and costs 75 euro for a return ticket. Many people come this way as a daytrip from Rhodes or for going further inside Turkey. Aegean airlines has many daily flights from Athens to Rhodes with a cost that starts at 80 euros for a return ticket. I took the morning flight that arrived at Rhodes at 6:20am and then the hydrofoil departed for Marmaris at 8:30am. On my return one week later I took the hydrofoil at Marmaris at 16:00 and the plane to Athens departed at 21:00. You have to take your get ticket one day before at any travel agent in Rhodes or in Marmaris. Go there the day before your departure because you have to show your passport for the customs.

    Every half hour you can take the boat from Içmeler or another place to Marmaris. It's cheap (€ 2.5) and fast (15 min). The owner of the boat sometimes plays music, and dances with people on the boat, and tries to sell some typical turkish tea,... Mostly the son on the owner is on board to help him debarqing or collecting the money.

    Local Minibuses runs intercity and between Marmaris and Icmeler, locally known as "Dolmus" ( Dol-Mush) follow the certain routes with stops but however they stop whenever you like to... Easy to recognize with different colors according to your destination.. FOR ICMELER Watch for the ORANGE Buses... FOR ARMUTALAN / DARK BLUE .... and for SITELER LIGHT BLUE... Prices vary according to DOLMUS you pick but between 1 YTL and 1,5 YTL... Just wave your hand and sure they will stop... If they dont probably it is stuffed ( I mean it! ;) ) so you should wait for the next one....

    All taxis are yellow and mostly reasonable prices within the town but if you like to out of the town or transfer to airport ask for the price before you pick. For the night always ask the price telling your destination hotel or place .

    Hiring a boat out is the best way to see the beautiful coastline Marmaris has to offer and its quite cheep as well, you can hire a boat like this with the owner for about 80 pounds a day and thats for 4 people

    Most of the people in Marmaris travel around with DOLMUS, a mini bus that can carry around 22 people. They have different colors and usually they have in front the stops and the final destination. You can use one of them to go to Icmeler, Armutalan, Siteler etc During summer time they are packed with people that go to the different beautiful bays of Marmaris. Of course you can easily take a taxi. You will see them wait in many spots, there are some in the port too. For some long distances they have fix prices but you can bargain.

  • The best and cheapest way to get around Marmaris is on your wifes back Ha Ha Ha sorry love i will start again. Right, now the swellings gone down a bit, the best way is by DOLMUS which is a turkish mini bus, and actually means Stuffed in turkish. they are supposed to carry around 20 people, but i think they must have had the world record when i went on one, so do not be surprised when they cram 40 people one dolmus. There are bus stops but they will stop anywhere wher ther are people waiting to get on. A dolmus ride is very cheap, last year it was 500,000 lira, don't worry this is about 30 pence. I will have some photo's of the transport around Marmaris in july when i return.
