  • There seemed to me to be rather a lot of stray cats and dogs roaming around the streets in Marmaris, it is best to leave these animals well alone, especially if they are not muzzled, rabies is still around in Turkey so do not attempt to stroke these animals, even if they are cute and cuddely like me hehehehehehe

    When visiting Turkey in the hot summer months, do take the sunbathing a little each day and then graually increase each day, not like i did (jesus did i suffer) trying to sleep that night, oh and the hanky panky was painfull to hehehehehehe.

    People!!!!!!!!!! KEEP THE RECEIPT when you pay for the bills at the hotel!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was nearly made pay the same sum. That's a good leson for me! So, keep ALL THE RECEIPTS till the end of the stay at the hotel!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Till the end of your life!!!....LoL...... :D

  • This isn’t dangerous—with so many people around at all hours—but one time when Ý sat down at the public beach ýn the city center at night, near the overpriced icecream stand, thinking deep things about life and the world, this young man sat down a few chairs further on, then getting on the one next to me and interrupted me by asking me something that Ý am sure was x-rated. The man turned out to be a kid of no more than 20. Ý asked some people on other chairs to help me and they chased him away. Now because of his young age and the aging rich plastic-surgerated Americans Ý had seen in a bank with their habibis Ý thought he had offered himself to me for money...not very flattering! But all was well, later people explained to me that this was a place where prostitutes meet their customers, so Ý my honor was somewhat reinstated...well better than the first insult ya know... However nobody in Marmaris bothered me by asking if Ý’m Russian wink wink , which is a gain, but then Ý appear to be the most covered up person here anyhow--girls go to the bank and Bazaar in Bikinis. No offense intended to anyone from that country, but here it means something else.

  • If you are thinking of going to Marmaris during the summer months, then take care from the extream heat, it can and probably will get up to 45 degrees which is hot, hot, hot, so keep yourself protected with a high factor sun block when you get there and gradually work your way down. There is a cooling breeze that gets up in the afternoons in Marmaris so you don't know that your burning untill its too late. Also drink plenty of water to avoid sun stroke.

  • Turkeys crime rate is very low compared with most countrys but even in turkey you will allways get thives and pickpockets. Be carefull especially at the markets. Our last visit to marmaris was spoilt because of a market con. Turkish lira is out of control and with one and a half million lira to the pound all them noughts are very confusing so getting cheated can be very easy. An example being that we paid ?50 pounds for 5 boxer shorts because the notes all look the same so its very easy to hand over the wrong bank note like i did. So i have got the most expensive bloody boxers ever made Ha Ha Ha i can laugh now but it's not nice bieng con'd.

  • You have to be a bit careful with the food in Turkey. A waiter told us that it is against their religion to throw away food. I am afraid they heat the food several times and use the salates more times. I am sorry to say that a lot of people where sick for one or two days.

    When buying or ordering milk from a restaurant, dont be too worried when it doesnt taste "right". I didnt know that when i ordered a glass of milk, that it was Goats' milk and not Cow's milk, which i am used to. When i took a sip of the Goat's Milk, i was almost sick.

  • when on your way to the airport after staying in marmaris,you are better of buying crisps,pop,sandwich etc when you have your rest break on the coach as when we got to dalaman airport,our kids bought a medium sized bag of crisps at 2.40,english money.a meal at burger king cost 16 pounds each.it cost me 100 pounds for 6 of us to eat and drink.they certainly make there money.

    i think i'm not discovering another America here, but do, please, take sun protection creams and everything connected with it. It was +40 in the shade!.....But we survived :-)))))))))))))
