    Hot Air Balloon over Cappadocia

    Balloon over Cappadocia

Favorite thing: Have you never flewn a hot air balloon you should take the chance in Cappadocia. The wind conditions in the morning are perfect and the balloons take off almost every morning during the season.
    It's an unforgettable memory!
I flew with Kapadokya Balloons which had been recomended to me. The pilots, Lars and Serhan, are experienced and really good, and as the only company in Göreme they start at different spots every morning - depending on the wind (other companies seems to hang around more just over Göreme).
We were two balloons flying together which was very nice as you can see the others take off, in the air and at the landing.
At the landing we got some champange (mixt with a fruit juice) and snacks. We also got a nice Certificate.
The long tour wish is about 1,5 hours costs 200 dollars
(290 000 000 TL). There is also a shorter, and less expensive, tour.
It is a lot of money but it is a great experiense I will never forget.

    Derinkuyu vent shafts.

by morgr Written Feb 6, 2005
    Vent shaft

Favorite thing: There are many vent shafts in Derinkuyu to circulate the air around the underground city. Typically, they are just a hole dug from the surface that connects, at some point, to different floor levels. In addition to this, vent shafts were also used for moving stuff (basket on the end of a rope style) and communication (stick your head in and talk to the guy two floor below you.)

    BALLOON RIDE IN CAPPADOCIA

    Favorite thing: Ballooning
Take in the beauty of the Cappadocia from a gentle, free-floating hot air balloon offering a birds-eye-view of the land. The following information is here to help answer your questions and to prepare you for your adventure. There is no better way to see the Cappadocia than by a gentle, free-floating balloon flight over the unique rock formations (called as fairy chimneys), valleys and vineyards.

You see the layout of the wine country and you may even pick some of the places you wish to visit later. Our balloons fly daily, weather permitting, throughout the year. Flying takes place in the early morning and evening when the winds are at their calmest. We will encourage you to be involved, right from the start, by helping the crew to prepare the balloon for flight.

Your flight will last approximately one hour or one and a half hours, but you should allow three or four hours for the complete trip. After the flight, on landing, we will toast the flight with a glass of Champagne and 'Flight Certificates' will be presented to each passenger. Our retrieve vehicle and crew will be on hand to help pack away the balloon and return us to the launchsite. We all do our best to provide the most memorable flights. We use up-to-date, modern equipment flown by experienced and commercial licensed pilots.

Fondest memory: If Turkey is your chosen destination then Sakura Tourism & Travel is the perfect choice to arrange your complete vacation, from the moment you arrive until your departure. We specialise in creating and arranging personalised itineraries to suit each guest's individual requirements. Additionally if you wish to travel as an organised group, we will quote and prepare all arrangements.
The Cappadocia region in Turkey has a most unique and beautiful landscape. This tour package allows you to experience the very best of what Cappadocia has to offer; the history, culture and its amazing natural beauty. We combine sightseeing with the magical experience of ballooning. Gentle winds will carry you over the deep canyons and fertile valleys and allow you to view places that cannot be reached by land.

    Getting started

Favorite thing: It was a great feeling to stand in a field in Cappadocia early in the morning, watching the two balloons getting bigger and bigger as the hot air was blown into them. I have never been so close to any hot-air balloon before and was struck by how huge they really are.
It was going to be my first balloon ride and I was very excited about it.

    Göreme village

by MalenaN Updated Dec 20, 2003

    4.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Favorite thing: Göreme is a village with about 2000 inhabitants. It is a touristic place with many tour agencies and cheap pensions. When I came to Göreme I had been travelling in eastern Turkey and was a bit surprised to see so many tourists at the same time, and a lot of them in shorts and tight tops.
It is a nice and peaceful place and it is a good base for exploring Cappadocia.
As the village is small it is close to everything and the otogar is just in the middle.

    The Rose Valley Hike

    Scenery in the Rose Valley

Favorite thing: On my second day in Cappadocia, I took a guided tour through the Rose Valley. It was a very delightful experience that I highly recommend. The scenery in the valley is some of the best in Cappadocia. The valley itself is littered with interesting churches that, if you did not have a guide, you would propably miss as they are somewhat hidden. The hike was probably about 1.5 hours long. Good walking shoes are a must.
If you want to hike on your own just the same, the trailhead is about four kilometers west of Goreme.

    climbiing inside

Favorite thing: The locals have called the rock formation the "fairy chimneys" and its great to be able to explore inside them. Several of these in Monks Valley can be scaled with the help of ladders to reach the upper levels.

Favorite thing: The trip we took into Cappadocia (a 3 day tour taken from Side) was amazing. I will never forget the fantastic rock formations and the rock cut churches here. If you have a chance to come here - don't miss it you won't regret it.

    Greme

Favorite thing: Göreme itself is a quite small village. Some houses are carved out of the rocks, which are standing in and around the village.
You`ll find there everything what you basically need. Life stuck stores, small hotels, restaurants and caming places.
The best about Göreme is the landscape surrounding the village. A great area to walk trough!

    Trekking in Capadoccia

Favorite thing: The picturesque landscape of Göreme and around can best be explored by hiking. A good option is to go around for some days, taking a tent with you for sleeping wherever you want.
Probably it is better to do this in spring or automn, as the summer is quite hot...

Favorite thing: It feels amazing beeing in the air, looking down. In the air it is peaceful and quiet. Well, not quiet all the time, people speak and there is a noice when the air is heated for the balloon to rise.
