Car Cemetary Bar: Their Motto is "Dance Your Pants Off"

by Weissdorn

Fethiye is also a rather large port, located on the NE side of the Fethiye Bay. Although Turkey was somewhat dead last year as far as tourism goes, because of the influence of the current political situation in the USA, Fethiye was relatively alive and well. If you had visited this bar, you would have never noticed that things were somewhat quiet in Turkey if you were in this bar: The Car Cemetary. The place has great music and the waiters are sometimes so busy playing air guitar, that you have to remind them a few times to bring you your drink. Put on clothes that are clean...

Canakkle

by adz

Most of the time when we were in Turkey we had did not go out and find the night life - rather we were content to sit in a cafe on the side of the road and soak up the atmosphere of the place. However after our trip of the Gallopoli battlefields, we went to a Turkish night club in Canakkale - can't remember what it was called, but it was behind the ANZAC House Hostel. There was a great Turkish band there playing a mixture of Turkish and English songs. And the best part of it was the drinks were cheap - I had a stinking hangover in the morning (usually a sign that I have had a great night) and it only cost me US $ 10. Casual

Kalkan has classy nightlife

by rachel_sun

Nightlife Spot: In the evening,Kalkan`s true colours show.I started the evening with a drink on my balcony watching the sun go down.I then walked to the village, which took about 20 mins.A pleasant walk with bars to go in if you want a drink on the way.We walked around the cobbled streets and looked around the good selection of shops. Most nights,we then found a roof terrece bar for another drink. A garden an Kalkan to relax in

Kalkan is full of classy bars, restaurants

by rachel_sun

There were jazz bars, classical and local bars. There were plenty to choose from. After that,we walked along to the harbour and picked one of the many nice restaurants looking onto the boats. They were all good value and some were lively more than others, but the atmosphere was electric and there were many to pick.Shops stayed open til past midnight,so did the bars, restaurants. There was also several internet bars there too.Dress Code: CASUAL

I won't name them all - they're all pretty good!: Marmaris

by Weissdorn

Marmaris is one of the largest harbors on the Aegean Coast in Turkey, and personally, I never saw so many of little bars, night clubs, discos, restaurants, snobby cafes and holes-in-the-wall as this place. I figure there are 200 establishments - for every taste from Techno Disco to Turkish FolkmusicThis city has specialized for the boat tourists. There isn't a bar or restaurant that doesn't have German/English/French speaking personnel. Although they even have restaurants that specialize in international fare, it is recommended that you order native dishes. Apparently they did away with this years ago. Yachties don't dress up when they go out - they put one clean (relatively clean clothes) and shoes for a change, and shave (yes land electricity does have it's advantages!).

by g_davies

Most of the restaurants you eat and drink in do not shut until the last person has left. The turkish people will do anything to keep their customers happy I have seen staff leave to get a special drink for a customer from one of the shops as they have ran out. very casual

For something a bit different, go to the local cinemas a few times. One cinema is in the Oasis shopping complex, in between Bodrum and Gumbet, reached by taxi, approx. £2.50 from Bodrum, or by dolmus, approx. 30p. The cinemas show all the latest blockbusters, in English with Turkish subtitles, and are excellent value for money 3,000,000 TL per person (approx. £1.30).

by Weener

Halikarnas is the local night-club. It has earned its name of 'The Most Beautiful Night Club in the World'. A stunning venue, all outdoors, surrounded by imitation roman-style pillars, and stone walls. Quite hard to describe to be honest, but defiantly worth a visit. At 12:30, and I think 1:30am, there is a stage show with dancers, that is err.. interesting! Music is the general chart stuff with a bit of Turkish town in for good measure!

B.P.Newton's Nightlife Tip

by B.P.Newton

General th enightlife was quite stange in Turkey. There were 3 off us, all males, travelling. We were continully seperated in the 'single' section as you were not allowed to dance unless you had a partner. When you are in the more travelled areas, especially at the time off year I was there, you find a lot of tourist in the clubs, so the rules are not as strict. Most of the time, we were out in shorts/t-shirts as it was quite hot. We didn't have any trouble getting in anywhere due to dress requlations. In Istanbul, we wore long pants and collared shirts.
