Sultan tomb

by Bavavia

This is the Sultan Sulymanie ( i am sure i am misspelling this name)! This is outside this very large beautiful mosque. It is free to get inside, but you can leave a donation if you want. No pressures though.....but they are very thankful if you leave even just a dollar...it helps toward upkeep and things like that.....

Saklikent.. Hidden city

by Erkmen

There are two places called Saklikent and both are in the same region. One of the Saklikent is in Antalya, a place where you can ski.. But the most famous Saklikent is between Fethiye and Antalya.. Saklikent is probably the best canyon you can see in Turkey, a vey attractive entrance and a long path.. The water is icy cold.. We have tried to go as far as we can however could not manage to reach the end..

See the Islamic relics at Topkapi Museum.

by Faiza-Ifrah

Photography is not allowed inside Topkapi. However, when we took pictures through toy camera, the administration people and the security guards did not stop us at all. These are the swords of the Holy Prophet of Islam viz. Mohammad (May peace be upon him). These swords must have been shifted to Turkey during the reign of Ottomans. Although painted by the non-Muslim sources of information as a fighter and invader, Mohammad was far from it.Also, one should note that Mohammad is not a character for worshipping. He is the last prophet (or messenger) of Allah, who the Muslims believe spoke not from himself, but only the Word of Allah.Muslims only worship Allah. The word literally means "The one and only". Hence, Allah is not a Muslim God, but God / Lord (of Old and New Testament) / Supreme Being / Bhagwan, etc. , who is called Allah in Islam. He is also called Khuda in Persian, Urdu, Pashto...

See the ornamental swords of the Caliphs.

by Faiza-Ifrah

Again these swords of the first 4 Caliphs were most likely ornamental. If at all, two of these swords belonging to 2nd and 4th Caliph maight have seen any action. After the death of the Prophet, his best friend Abu Bakar was proclaimed the Caliph. The rule of this aging companion of the Prophet was to rid the 1st Islamic state of uprisings that followed the death of the Prophet. Umar followed and his rule saw major conquests of lands in Northern Africa and in Asia up to Iran.Usman the 3rd Caliph consolidated the fast expanding boundaries of the state, but towards the end of his rule, civil war had started. Finally, Ali was proclaimed the Caliph and saw the civil war reach zenith. His murder marked the rise of Kingship in the Islamic State rather than the true Caliphate. Also, with the murder of Ali, began the rule of the Ummyid dynasty. Under their rule, the lands that now comprise Turkey,...

Ephesus--I think

The most crowded ruin we visited was Ephesus--Still it was impressive and imagining the buildings and streets whole rather than in ruins gives an appreciation for the extent of the ancient societies development--makes you realize just how dark the "dark ages" were.

The sky is endless!

by Weissdorn

It this shear endless stretch of sky and sea which is only broken up by the jagged giant Taurus mountains.Legend has it, where the Titans of old, turned to stone. The so-called Greek name "PROMETHEUS" is in fact the anagrammatized name of the ancient Tauranian trinity SKY-GOD, in the form of "BIR-O-METE-OGUS". Recently I stumbled upon this translate ancient prayer of the original language of the people who onced lived here, the Tauranians:Prayer to "Oguz" - The Ancient Turanian Sky-GodThe SKY-GOD came, Sky-God himself came; The Sky-God came, Sky-God himself came. Rise up, all noble lords, brothers, Let us praise the Sky-God! SUN-GOD who sees all, You protect us! MOON-GOD who is seen, You save us! Sky-God, With beautiful fragrance, with sweet scent, With glitter, with twinkle The Sky-God! Sky-God! Sky-God, With beautiful fragrance, with sweet scent, With glitter, with twinkle The Sky-God!...
