The historical site of Bogazkoy (Hattusas) is located at 82 km. to the southwest of Çorum and it is 208 km. from Ankara. the city was the capital city of the Hittite Empire during the Early Age.The Hattusas historical site was first visited in 1834 and introduced to the world. Later the first connection between with these ruins and the Hittite state has been made, as until that time the center of the Hittites was considered to be in Syria. This discovery greatly added to the knowledge of Hittite civilization. Among the impressive remains are huge fortifications, gates, and templesHatushash was ascerted by UNESCO in 1987 on the list of World Heritage. Fatih Camii

by MalenaN

Istanbul has several big beautiful mosques. Fatih Camii (Mosque of the conqueror) was the first one to be built after the conquest. Not much remains of the original one as it has been destroyed by earthquake and fire.It is a peaceful place to visit and not turisty.Behind the mosque is the cementary and the tomb of Mehmet the Conqueror. To the tomb there is an entrance fee: 1000 000 TL.Beside the mosque is a big yard where it is nice to have a break and sit down to watch people go by.Fatih Camii is a few km nortwest of the Blue Mosque.

Houses for the birds

by gandara

Look up while visiting Istanbul! On the facade of the 18th century building, very often there is still a small house. This house is for the birds. The ottoman knew that the birds could fly to the sky and explain to God what they saw on earth, so they took good care of them by building a small palace to protect them from the bad weather.
