Packing List

by Leipzig

When I was in Antalya in August, it was three days about 46°C (115°F) ! Also near Izmir it was about 40°C (104°F) in August. Visiting the southwest coast in fall was great. Water had around 27°C (80°F) and the air was not as hot as in the summer! So if you don't like heat you should visit the southern and western Turkey between fall and spring only. Antalya (south): Summers average maximum is about 33°C (92°F) minimum around 22°C (73°F). Winters average maximum is about 14°C (57°F) minimum around 5°C (41°F). Izmir (west): Summers average maximum is about 35°C (96°F) minimum around 23°C (74°F). Winters average maximum is about 12°C (53°F) minimum around 3°C (37°F). Istanbul (northwest): Summers average maximum is about 28°C (82°F) minimum around 19°C (66°F). Winters average maximum is about 7°C (45°F) minimum around 2°C (36°F). Ankara (center): Summers average maximum is about 28°C...

Don't take to much !!

by Mickyk

Take a backpack (max 55 litres) and a daypack. Travel light, you can alway wash your clothes and this saves up bulk.Do not take a sleeping bag, it's to hot most of the time. Use a bag made of a bedsheet instead. For the beach take t-shirts and shorts. A wraparound for woman and longer shorts for men to walk around in the coastal places. In the south of Europe and in Turkey too, shorts are only worn by children and the mentally impaired. So for the men take some light trousers. Jeans are not al that comfortable, and bulky too. Cover your shoulders at least, no singlets please!. Poloshirts or short sleeved shirts are oke.On the other hand, nobody minds at all if you wear sandals, and in hot weather they are a godsend. Buy some good ones (like Teva) and you just keep on walking. Almost anything can be bought locally (maybe not your local brand, but who cares). At an eczane (pharmacy) you...

September packing

by Bavavia

Try to pack as little as possible if you are moving from hotel to hotel... you can always find stuff there that you need like shampoo, makeup, etc shorts, light colored shirts. Comfortable sandals( not sneakers all the time because they get too hot. your feet need to breathe).Bring a hat too because the sun is very hot..... Mosquito repellant( although I did not see one mosquito) but saw a lot of flies, so spray yourself and bring a fly swatter I brought my digital camera and digital camcorder and now have everlasting memories!!!!!. Bring wash cloths.......you wont find them in hotels in turkey...... also bring soap because many hotels have those soap dispenser things and they are not that good....

Be prepared for the Sun..

by Erkmen

If you are coming to Turkey in Summer time, do not forget your sun cream, sun protector and aftersun creams... Also do not forget to bring a hat for you.. The sun is sharp and if you do not take a caution for it, your holiday might be spoiled due to burned skin or sun on your head..

Bring yourself :)

by Erkmen

If you have a folding bag, you can bring it with you.. As the prices are relatively cheap, you may have the chance to make lots of shopping.. If you are coming in Summer, thin clothes, Tshirts and Shorts.. You may hardly face with a rain, to bring a raincoat is not so necessary.. Comfortable shoes are a must.. You may walk quiet a lot.. You can supply all Toiletries And Medical Supplies in markets and Drug stores in big cities and major touristic towns..

Packing List

Sooner or later you might want to get a Carpet as a souvenir...Go to some carpet-stores at home and take the brochures with you - and whenever you are told, 'This Carpet will cost at least 1000,-€ in your country...' you might tell the local turkish merchant exactly how much the equivalent carpet is in Germany - and you might get a great souvenir for a reasonable price - ...and if you are in a Tourbus all the others will appreciate, they also got much better prices...
