La Gondola Restaurant is an Italian restaurant located in the premises of all inclusive Hotel WOW Kremlin Palace at Kundu, approximately 25 kilometres from the heart of Antalya. When you stay at this hotel for at least one week, you are eligible to dine at this restaurant free-of-charge once a week. This is an a la carte restaurant where you choose your dishes from the menu. Drinks including wine, beer and liquor are all inclusive. The restaurant is quite large, beautifully decorated and comfortable. Dress code is required to enter the restaurant. Services are impeccable. The food is excellent it has to be said!
We chose pasta zucchini, pizza margareta, Italian style fried chicken with sallads and potatoes and dessert cake for our dinner. Turkish Cuisine by deecat In my humble opinion, Turkish Cuisine is among some of the finest in the world. I think that it has benefited from the 500 years in which the Ottomans ruled a great portion of the world and brought back some of the best cooking concepts. Then, our guide told us that the sultans had over a thousand chefs and helpers who worked in the Topkapi Palace [ where some of the world's most incredible dishes were invented in the Topkapi kitchens]. I personally think that the Turkish country offers an endless variety of fish, fruit, meat, and vegetables, which only adds to the reasons for grand food. We were told that the Turks have come up with at least 50 different kinds of kebabs alone! If you have ever been a typical Turkish kitchen, you will know that painstaking care goes into the preparation of each dish. They make sure all ingredients are FRESH. The restaurants never use leftovers prepared in a new way. One of the best traditions, I think, in Turkey is the wide array of meza (appetizers).
Some of my favorites are: Cerkez tavugu [boiled, boned chicken in a delicious sauce that is made of crushed walnuts, fresh breadcrumbs, garlic, paprika, and olive oil]. coban salatasi [a mixed salad of chopped tomatoes, cucumbers, black olives, peppers with an olive oil and lemon dressing]. borek [paper-thin pastry filled with feta cheese or meat] I prefer the feta cheese. cacik [yogurt with grated cucumber and garlic with a splash of virgin olive oil]. dolma [grape vine leaves stuffed with minced lamb or rice and a blend of spices and fresh herbs] Turkish bread [several different ones and they are all delicious!] Roast Pork the meal I experienced, the pork was so tender and whatever spices they used, made the flavor irresistible. Just make sure when you visit Turkey that you experience authentic Turkish cuisine Leave a Comment Theme: Other

Iskander kebab by MalenaN I have eaten Iskaner kebab all around Turkey, but the city Bursa is famous for its Iskander kebabs, also called Bursa kebab. An Iskander kebab is a plate with slices of meet from a skewer, served on flat bread with tomato sauce. Melted butter is poured over it and yoghurt is on the side of it. I had a very delicious Iskander kebab in Bursa, probably the best I had in Turkey, but it was also the most expensive Iskander kebab I had in Turkey. The kebab was 8 000 000 TL and the orange drink 2 000 000 TL. I ate it at a restaurant on Atatürk Caddesi, next to Ulu Camii. Leave a Comment

Breakfast by the Black Sea by MalenaN The Turkish hotel breakfast looks the same almost everywhere. You will get a lot of white bread, a boiled egg, cucumber, tomatoes, black olives and a piece of white cheese. For the bread you will also get butter, jam and/or honey and cream cheese. To drink there is always tea and often also instant coffee (at a few places you have to pay extra for the coffee). Leave a Comment Theme: Breakfast

Lady selling simits by MalenaN Simit is a sesame-covered bread ring. It is sold everywhere in Turkey and it is a good snack to buy when you are on the way, and it is cheap. The price for one simit is 250 000 TL (June2004) in many cities. In Istanbul the price is 300 000 TL. We cannot remember the name of this wonderful Turkish seafood restaurant. It is located on a lane off the left hand side of Istiklal Cadessi towards Taksim Square approximately half way between Galata Tower and Taksim Square. The restaurant is one of the numerous seafood restaurants located along the lane packed with local and foreign tourists especially in the evening. They served excellent and delicious small dish appetizers. You pick your live fish from the aquarium from shops opposite the restaurant. You can also choose other fresh seafood chilled with ice displayed outside the shops such as the mouth-watering octopus, oysters, crabs, king prawns and lobsters. The rest will be taken care of by the restaurant and they will cook the seafood of your choice in less than half an hour. The waiters are very friendly and the services are impeccable it has to be said. The restaurant is fully air-conditioned. They gave us the restaurant's name card and a bill for the food. Unfortunately we have lost them. If you can recognise the restaurant from our photographs above, please let us know the name of the restaurant so that we can update the page!

Typical turkish breakfast by hasthetravelbug This breakfast is what you will be offered in most lower end hostels and hotels. It is a simple one with fresh bread, some cheese, olives, boiled egg, cucumber, and some tomatoes. Most of the time it is served with cai - turkish tea. Its a tasty start to your day but after eating it for a month straight, its gets a little boring! Leave a Comment

by MalenaN There are several restaurants/cafes in Sirince that serves gözleme (savoury filled pancakes). The one I had, with cheese filling, was a bit dry. I think the one with potatoes, or the one with aubergine, would be better. Anyway I had it at a nice place, called Pervin Teize Gözleme, above Church of St John the Babtist. The view over the village Sirince is nice from there. I had delisious baklava for desert but could not eat it all. The pieces I couldn't eat I got in a doggy-bag. The gözlemes were made just in the front of the cafe. Gözleme, ayran and baklava: 4 500 000 TL. Leave a Comment Theme: Local
