A sunny day in winter

During that walk you can explore the richness of our nature. you can collect wild flowers(spring) and thymes(summer). The rocky and higher hills at southeastern side is excellent for looking around and picnic.

Camping or Staying at city center..., Duvecik

voyageur2 Says:  There is no special campground in Duvecik. Staying in Samsun should be okay because of its proximity and its good hotels. If you are familiar with mountain life it will not be hard to find a place. Views are so beautiful that you can not feel the time spent.

Rocky Hill!: Prepare your own restaurant!

Mountainous areas of Duvecik

Unfortunately there is no restaurant at the village. It is very small and far from touristic activities. I recommend you to prepare your own barbeque at the hills. You can buy all the equipment from local hypermarkets including Migros and Gima.

Favorite Dish: Grilled fish, chicken or beef are among the best preferences.

Duvecik is only 8 kms far from Samsun

When I was a child, roads were bad and there was not direct bus connection to city. It was both a necessity and a joy to walk that distance. It was taking between 1 or 1.5 hours. Today, there are regular minibus connections from city center. But i recommend you a car.

Other villages across Mert River

Most of Black Sea villages are too far from touristic mind. If you want to photograph a person, please ask him or her before. Some difficulties may be possible, then try to pick views of nature...

Favorite thing: Duvecik is an old settlement. Unfortunately Only a few stones, washing places near the stream and a ruined fountain remained from its old settlers. New century brought many troubles to Turks and Greeks. Population exchange gave hopes and opportunities to create a new way of life to both nations. Today, a new movement takes place. Because of education and business needs, young people have to leave that nice village. Like most of villages in the region village became a place where old people live with memories only...

Fondest memory: I spent my holidays mostly in Duvecik until 18 years of age, both winter and summer. Snowman making, football on the grasslands, cowboy games are only a few of them.
