Zara Imranli honey is one of the specialities of Sivas. The bees use the thyme herb to produce this type of honey, which is quite tasty.

Carpet weaving is a tradition in Turkey. We know that carpets are produced in Sivas since 13th. century. As far as i see, this tradition is not very much alive today. Still, you can buy new and old carpets from Sivas.

2 shops at the entrance of Izzettin Keykavus Hospital (Darussifa) sells carpets. You can find Iran carpets as well as Anatolian carpets.

The sellers never get tired of showing different carpets that you might like and they prefer talking about the carpets and bargaining while dirinking a cup of tea or coffee at a coffehouse on the courtyard of the historical hospital...

The rooms of historical Izzettin Keykavus Hospital (Darussifa) are now used as gift shops. You may buy some souvenirs from those shops. I have to admit that It is hard to find something special to Sivas in those shops. They sell many Chinese and Indian products that you may find everywhere in the world. I recommend you to ask for combs and knives made of horns. It is a traditional hand-craft, however i learned that only one craftsman remained that produces comb. Therefore, his combs are sold as soon as he produces them and it is hard to find them in the shops...

Ebru is a traditional Turkish art. It is made by mixing natural dyes with ox gall and sprinkling it with brushes made of horse tails on the surface of water in a special deep tray. The oily dyes are designed on the surface of water. After the design is ready, tray-size papers are left on the tray to absorb all the dyes as they are, with their formed shape.

You can find the stand of an ebru artist at the courtyard of Izzetin Keykavus Hospital.
