The Dalyan boat cruise is a very popular tourist attraction in Marmaris and has attracted millions of foreign tourists every year. Don't miss this wonderful boat trip when you are in Marmaris!

The minaret is known as Yivli and Yivli Minare Mosque (Ulu Camii) is one of the oldest structures at Kaleici Old Town, if not the oldest. It is a symbol and a landmark of the city of Antalya. The mosque's fluted minaret is decorated with blue tiles and the minaret was constructed of bricks. It is approximately 38 metres high and was built on a square stone base.

The minaret was believed to be constructed in 1230 AD but dated back to the third century AD. It was first constructed as a Byzantine church but later converted to a mosque during the reign of Seljuk Sultan Alaeddin Kay Qubadh I in the 13th century.

Much of the mosque were destroyed through the centuries and restoration work was carried out in 1953 by the General Directorate of Museum. Even until today restoration work is still going on! Yivli Minaret is now home to Antalya Ethnographic Museum which opened to the public in 1974.

    Attalos II Statue
    by hopang, 1 more photos
The Statue of Attalos II was erected to commemorate the Pergamun King Atttalos II who ordered his army to search for the heaven on earth. After a lenghty search throughout Europe he founded the city in 2nd century AD and called it the "heaven" and named it Attaleia which later became Adalia and then Antalya.

During his reign, the city grew in size and became prosperous during the Roman and Byzantine eras. The main source of income then traded were from salt, cedar wood and olive oil. Among the famous ruler who visited Antalya was the Roman Emperor Hadrian in the 2nd century AD.

Cleopatra (Kleopatra) Beach is located west of the Alanya Peninsula which splits the city into two sections. The beach is world famous due to its fine soft sand and is not rocky as compared to many other beaches in Southern Turkey. The beach is approximately 3½ kilometres long and is very popular with local and foreign tourists especially during the hot summer months. It is the finest beach and the most beautiful in Alanya. It is also known as Damlatas Beach due to the discovery of Damlatas Caves in 1948.

The whole area along the beach is dotted with international hotels, luxury condominums, cafes, bars and restaurants. The beach is opened to the public. It is so-called Cleopatra Beach due to the fact that Queen Kleopatra of Egypt was presented the area around Alanya as a gift from Roman Emperor Mark Antony.

    The Red Tower
    by hopang, 2 more photos
The Red Tower (Kizilkule in Turkish) is located at Alanya Harbour along Turkish Mediterranean Coast in Alanya. It is so-called the red tower simply because the colour of the bricks in which it was constructed is red. This is undoubtedly the most interesting monument at Alanya Harbour.

The Red Tower is a landmark and a symbol of Alanya. It is even used in the city's flag. The octagonal shaped tower has five floors and is 33 metres high and 13 metres wide. It was constructed in 1226 under the reign of Seljuk Sultan Alaeddin Kay Qubadh I. It was designed by Ebu Ali Reha and made of bricks and cut stones. Seljuk Sultan converted the harbour into a naval base during his time to defence the harbour and the dockyard.
