  • Walk along the seaside

We walked from our hotel to bide the time, it's just past 8am and our transport that will take us to Sumela Monastery will pick us up at 10am. So we decided to have a walk.Took us about 10 minutes crossing the highway over a pedestrian lane to the seaside, passing by a seaside restaurant that is still closed. Trabzon Nightlife

  • Outdoor cafes

The whole Meydan Park which is just beside the municipal hal (Belidiye) is bustling with activity at night. People hangout here at the so many tables and chairs positioned around the fountain and the statue of Ataturk. You can order tea, coffee and cold beverages, ice cream, sandwiches, etc at the several cafes surrounding the park. When we arrived...

  • Walking along the seafront

Trabzon is 'lively' at night...it is a port city, so what do you expect?!! However parts of Trabzon are extremely seedy, and not really recommended at night. The teahouses in the centre of Ataturk Alani are good places for more innocent nightlife, but the best place is down at the seafront, where there are some great cafes, and in the early evening...

Trabzon Transportation

  • Dolmush (Taxi Van)

Similar to Istanbul and virtually everywhere around Turkey, the economical way to mmove around Trabzon is by Dolmush (taxi van). You have to wait though until the van is full or depends on the driver, mostly more than half full as it could almost always pcik up passengers along the way.We took the dolmush twice from the city centrum to the main bus...

  • Be careful walking at night in the port...

If you are a single female, I wouldn't recommend walking around the Russian Bazaar at night...you'll probably be mistaken for a prostitute! Also, men walking this area will almost certainly get offers. The waterfront is apparently dangerous to walk late at night, after the cafes close.

Trabzon Tourist Traps

  • Uzungol

Second only to Sumela Manastiri, if you've walked around Trabzon, you'll already know what Uzungol looks like. Trabzon is famous because of its football team and fans. Trabzonspor is a strong rival for both Istanbul teams(FB, BJK, GS) and European teams always. And its success is well known worldwide.

Equipment: Watching a match at the stadium requires special dressing in rainy weathers especialy winter.
