ACCESS TO SIMENA

by mtncorg

Simena is a pretty small place. While you might manage to find a place on the fly, you might want to arrange things ahead of time to stay and having the place where you are staying fix you up with a boat to come over from Üçðaýz on. The transfer is 10-20 TL and the ride is about 20 minutes across Üçðaýz Bay and around the corner – left – into Simena. From Üçðaýz you can see where Simena is by noting the big Turkish flag flying on top of what looks like a hill, but is really the castle. Watch out for the ruins of Teimussa which you pass right after leaving Üçðaýz. Pack light because you will have to carry your bags up several groups of rough stone steps to reach your pension in most cases. Another alternative to the boat is to drive out on the somewhat rough gravel road from Üçðaýz to the east looping several kilometers around the bay and ending in a parking lot next to a water fountain...

From Eceabat to Istanbul by bus

by Kuznetsov_Sergey

The town of Eceabat on the peninsula lies opposite Çanakkale and is the busiest point enabling the passage between the continents of Asia and Europe via the Strait. The distance between Eceabat and Istanbul is 280 km along European E90 (National D550 and D120) and E88 (National D110 and D100). It took us 4 hours with an hour stop for a lunch. So our 2400 km ring around Turkey was closed!

Across Dardanelles by ferry

by Kuznetsov_Sergey

Çanakkale Province has territory in both Europe and Asia. Ferries cross here to the northern (European) side of the strait. Regularly scheduled ferry boats make the trip from Canakkale to Eceabat for a 25 minute journey across the Dardanelles. There are also ferryboats running between Çanakkale-Eceabat, Çanakkale-Kilitbair, Gelibolu-Lapseki, Bozcaada-Odunluk, Çanakkale-Gökçeada and Kabatepe-Gökçeada. We crossed the Dardanelles from Çanakkale to Eceabat (about 6 km) and came back to Europe after long way along the Asian part of Turkey. You can watch my 2 min 55 sec HD Video Canakkale Dardanelles HD out of my Youtube channel with Turkish pop music by Asia – Bosver Hayat Kisa.

From Troy to Çanakkale by bus

by Kuznetsov_Sergey

We came to Çanakkale province by bus on our ring-way around Turkey from Izmir Province while coming back to Istanbul. Çanakkale province has a European and an Asian part. The European part is formed by the Gallipoli peninsula, while the Asian part is largely coterminous with the historic region of Troad in Anatolia. We arrived to Çanakkale by our excursion bus from Troy on our way to Istanbul along E87 about 30 km). Transport from Çanakkale to Troy, Assos, Alexandreia -Troas and other centres are very easy. There are regular buses running to important centres such as Troy and Assos from the centre of the city.

From Istanbul to Ankara by bus

by Kuznetsov_Sergey

Ankara is located in Anatolia about 430 kilometers to the southeast of Istanbul in the Ankara Province (in Turkish: Ankara Ili) in central Turkey. We came there by bus on our ring-way around Turkey from the Istanbul Province while going to Hattusas in the Corum Province. It took us 7 hours to get Ankara from Istanbul (including an hour for lunch). The E80 (Turkish 0-4) and E89 (after turn at Gerede) roads from west to east were quite good. The E80 follows the Asian Highway 1 (AH1) through Turkey and crosses over the Bosporus via the Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bridge or the Second Bosphorus Bridge. The guide told us that after constructing a new tunnel the road became shorter for an hour. You may watch my 1 min 44 sec VIDEO-Clip Istanbul-Ankara by bus with Ankarali Coscun music.

Troy is located 30 km south to Çanakkale at the mound ‘Hisarlik’ on the east side of the river Scamander, where the Dardanelles strait join with the Agean Sea.You can get there by dolmush which is going to Tefvikiye from the bridge on Ataturk Cad (3 times a day, 30 minutes in a way). A large number of tourists visit the site each year, mostly coming from Istanbul by bus or by ferry via Çanakkale. We arrived to Troy by our excursionn bus on the way from Ayvalik. From Bergama to Ayvalik by bus

by Kuznetsov_Sergey

Balikesir is a province in midwestern Turkey, having coastlines on both the Sea of Marmara and the Aegean. We came to Balikesir Province by bus on our ring-way around Turkey from Izmir Province while going to Canakkale Province. It is on the Northern Aegean coast of Turkey, with Istanbul to the north and Izmir to the south. We stopped for a night in Ayvalik which is situated about 50 km from Bergama and we reached it by bus in an hour after leaving this ancient city. From Izmir to Bergama by bus

by Kuznetsov_Sergey

The distance between Izmir and Bergama is about 60 km. It took us about an hour by our bus.Bergama is situated 110 km to the north from Izmir. You can get to Bergama from Izmir by bus (1,5 hours in a way). Unfortunately, as I could learn from a guide-book, neither bus, nor dolmush go to the Acropolis so you can reach the sight by walk or rent a car. It’s rather difficult because the Hill is high enough. We got to the Acropolis Hill by our excursion bus. It made several rounds around the hill when droved upstairs. The road was very picturesque. You can watch my my 3 min 01 sec Video clip On the way to Bergama with Turkish pop music by Hande Yener – Runun Adi Avrilik.my 2 min 42 sec Video clip On the way from Bergama with Turkish pop music by Hande Yener – Runun Adi Avrilik.

Izmir is situated 337 km from Istanbul. You can also reach Izmir by bus from Istanbul (every hour for 10 hours), from Ankara (11 times a day for 8 hours). We arrived to Izmir by excursion bus on our way from Selcuk to Bergama. The city of Izmir is composed of nine metropolitan districts. I managed to see only one of them - Konak. You can watch my 3 min 43 sec Video clip Izmir around by bus with Turkish pop music by Izel – York Yere.
