Water bike

by Gili_S

Well, I am not sure if this is a real transportation tool or just for the fun, in Lapland we have snow mobiles where we can travel hundreds of km from village to village, here you can get a water bike just for the fun of it, not sure if the Greek would like it if you arrive to their island without a passport ;-)

Taksim to Laleli at night

by AlperIst

Hi Giovanna,No worries, you can take round-the-clock shared yellow taxi from Taksim Square, near the flower sellers, the Taksim-Topkapi line. You can drop at Aksaray, which is almost Laleli. Laleli is a dirty and unsafe part of the city we the locals never go. All illegal prostution runs there. Many low quality textile shops for the buyers from abroad daytime. And prostution at night. Both traders are kind of men I would never talk to. No family or no "normal" people live in the area. There are also tourist hotels, therefore no need to be worried to much, but please be careful at night.Best wishes.Alper

How to find cheap domestic flighs in Turkey

by Vaio77

There are 5 local carriers serving for all major destinations in Turkey. These are Atlasjet (http://www.atlasjet.com.tr) , Turkish Airlines (http://www.thy.com.tr), Pegasus Airlines (http://www.flypgs.com) , OnurAir (http://www.onurair.com.tr) and SunExpress (http://www.sunexpress.com.tr). You can easily find great and lastminute deals from their original website. And usually these deals are much cheaper than the international flight consolidator websites such as expedia.com, opodo.com. You may also try http://www.seyahatix.com which is the local travel search engine for turkey and worldwide. It scans all above carriers and present you under one page with advanced filter capabilities.

Cruise along Bosphorus Strait, Istanbul

by hopang

Take a boat cruise along Bosphorus Strait, Istanbul's most famous waterway - a wonderful way to relax and take in fresh air to escape the chaos of the city! There are several operators to choose from. Please enquire from the various operators available at Eminonu jetty where the boats depart especially its fares and the number of stops along the way! The boat usually makes approximately six stops alternately at European and Asian sides of the strait and its last stop near the Black Sea is at Anadolu Kavagi where it stops for a couple of hours. A round trip takes approximately six hours.Bosphorus Strait connects the Black Sea with the Sea of Marmara. It is a winding strait that separates Asia with Europe and is the narrowest strait in the world. It is also known as Istanbul Strait and is one of the most important waterways in the world. Bosphorus Strait is approximately 30 kilometer long...

By bus from Antalya to Alanya

by hopang

Take a day trip from Antalya to Alanya by bus from Antalya bus station. The bus terminal (Otogar) at Antalya looks very impressive from outside as well as inside. There are several shops and restaurants in the terminal. You may purchase your bus tickets at the terminal on the day of your travel from Antalya to Alanya. It costs just 14.00 Turkish lira one way which also includes refreshment, coffee or tea on board. Regular buses ply between these two cities during the day usually at one hour intervals from early in the morning untill 10.00 p.m. at night. Please enquire from the terminal the time the last bus departs Alanya for Antalya if you are taking a day trip. You do not want to end up by taking a taxi back to Antalya!

By local bus, Antalya

by hopang

If you are staying at Kundu or Lara areas where most of the five star hotels in Antalya are located, you may want to cut your costs by travelling by local buses. It costs only 2.00 Turkish lira (approximately one euro) to travel to the heart of the city, a distance of approximately 22 to 25 kilometres from Kundu or Lara. Most buses pass through the heart of the city and the best alternative is bus no: 105. The bus will stop at the busy bus stops near Ataturk Cadessi and Kaleici Old Town. Other alternative buses using different routes and taking longer time to reach the city are buses no: 103 and 182.

Boat cruise in Antalya

by hopang

Boat tour is a very popular tourist attraction in Antalya. They are operated by several boat operators usually using old fishing boats. The cruise will take a visitor around both sides of the harbour. An hour cruise costs between ten and twenty Turkish lira. Don't forget to bargain for the lowest possible fare! Boat tour is highly recommended to anyone who visits Antalya! Lots of beautiful picturesque sceneries at and around the harbour are guaranteed especially the irregular rock formation near the coast! You may view more lovely photos of the boat tour at our Turkey travelogues.

Free Transport

My husband and I were waiting to get a taxi to take us to the small boat harbour. None of the taxis stopped for us. A bus pulled up at the kerb we were waiting on, doors opened, and we thought, lets hop on a bus. We had our Turkish Lira ready to pay our way, and after insisting that have have not paid yet, a very kind Turkish lady told us that the service was free.I dont know where all the taxis go, unless they go further into the city, and the buses run a round trip through Kusadasi.
