Alcohol is only served in licensed outlets associated with hotels 4 or 5 stars (i.e. restaurants and bars) plus a few clubs (i.e. golf) and associations. Restaurants outside of hotels that are not part of one of the clubs or associations are not permitted to serve alcohol. Permanent residents who are non-Muslim can obtain liquor supplies without difficulty under a permit system, which entitles you to buy from a special liquor shop (not the local supermarket). This permit allows you to spend a limited amount on alcohol per month; this amount is calculated based on your monthly salary. To apply, collect an application form from your local liquor store or the Police Headquarters, situated between Airport Road and Al Saada Street in Abu Dhabi. Then submit the form to the Police Headquarters along with: Essential documents, religion certificate. By law you should carry this liquor permit with you whenever you are transporting liquor or drinking alcohol at licensed premises. Note - the authorities in Abu Dhabi have a strict anti-drink driving stance. IMPORTANT - Do not carry liquor in public transportation (taxis, buses, etc.) If consuming liquor in public carry your liquor license. Wives' name must be on spouses' liquor license if they want to consume liquor as a UAE resident
for non residernt (tourist) they can drink alcohol at most of the Hotel at abu dhabi without licence ( drinking quantity only) i.e you can't buy bottle

Arabs are very hospitable so accept any invitations you receive. It is good manners to remove your shoes before entering a UAE national’s house. Leave X-rated books and DVDs behind. They are not allowed in the UAE. Take photos of your visit to the UAE , but ask permission first. Most locals will be happy to oblige, but they may be sensitive to having their picture taken, especially women. If you are a man, don’t offer your hand to an Emirati woman. It is considered impolite. Some Arab men will shake Western women’s hands, but don’t be offended if they don’t. The UAE is a Muslim country, so don’t engage in public displays of affection. Anything more than a kiss on the cheek in public is frowned upon. Don’t expect taxi drivers to carry change. Many struggle to provide change for any note greater than AED 100, so have smaller notes and coins ready.

Drink lots of water all the time. Humidity is low & it's quite dry. Keep yourself hydrated all the time. Always bring along a bottle of water anywhere you go.

General comments on hotels in Abu Dhabi: 1. They are expensive. 2. The good ones will have all the amenities you may needs and then some. They are good. 3. One of the worlds best hotels, the 7 star rated, Emirates Palace Hotel, is in Abu Dhabi. Great if you can afford it. 4. The cheaper hotels sometimes have their bars flooded with prostitutes. If they start bothering you leave for they never stop. 5. Look / ask for Hotel Apartments for a room with a kitchen if you want a self help situation. 6. There are no guest houses or backpacker lodges that I know of. It is all hotels. Leave a Comment

Hi Friend Regarding Umra Visa its free from KSA, approach any of agents 2-weeks before travel, further you will be asked for vacination from central hospital. Take English to Arabic book along with you, as at every point you may need it, further be prepared to have arabic food on way as Indian food is rarely found but you can find Pakastanis hotels at both Makkah & Madinah city. Border is exactly 358km from Abu Dhabi on rout you find ADNOC fuelling station at average every 50km, It may take 30min each at UAE & Saudi Emigaration & customs clearance. On Saudi side on entry you find one or two petrol stations then there is 1 bunk every 100km for next 400kms then bunks are available every 10-20kms & even fuel is dam cheap. Prefer to apply removable abrasive paint on front to avoide damage due to sand storms, it should be easily peeled off once your journey is complete. It is more advisable to have a friend who can speak arabic & can assist you in driving, Carry spare tyre, towing belt to pull out of sand dunes, AC overhauled, battery jump wires, On an average food costs you around 10-15 rials max, UAE currency is readily accepted at every corner of Saudi, you can find many money exchanges in cities but are not proffasinally managed. For SAFETY I would advise to enter Saudi during Day from UAE, as first strech of 300km road in 2way with no central dividers & lots of heavy trailers are hauling at good speed as there are no radar check on this streach. For route map & Hotel check on www.map24.com web site. Happy Journey my Friend, Even pray for me, J Patel
Cool Green & freely flowing traffic, lots of open space, no conjustions Leave a Comment

A ship of the desert by tashka Looking out to the sea from the beach of the Beach Rotala Hotel I noticed a funny thing. There is an island not far away, and the island is crossed by a canal. Sometimes a ship passes through the canal, and from the beach it seems that the ship crossed the sandy desert of the island. Leave a Comment
