    Beaches in Abu Dhabi

by machomikemd Written Aug 12, 2013

The Main Beach of Abu DhabiCity is the one fronting the Abu Dhabi Corniche, it is eight kilometers long stretch of beach front composed of manicured waterfront that includes children’s play areas, separate cycle and pedestrian pathways, cafés and restaurants. But Since Abu Dhabi has a number of Islands (natural, unlike the artificial Islands of Dubai like the Palm Jumeirah), it has more beaches like the Saadiyat Island Public Beaches, The Yas Island Public Beaches, Jubail Island Beaches and more. The many of the public beaches have changing rooms and public lifeguards and some have entrance fees. Like in Dubai, be careful of Rip tides.

Most public beaches are open from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm

As an island, surrounded by many smaller islands (some manmade), Abu Dhabi has plenty of coastline to offer. A number of luxury hotels in the city, the Beach Rotana Hotel and Emirates Palace included, are equipped with private beaches, water sport facilities and swimming pools. These are the most accessible beaches from the city and are quite pleasant. In addition, there are some pretty public beaches behind the Emirates Palace Hotel at Al Ras Al Akhdar area, divided into "families" and "singles" sections, with the latter really for single men. However, my hotel guide indicated that there are some great isolated beaches a little further out, including on an island off the coast of the gulf that can only be reached by boat. Excursions can be easily organised.

There are some beautiful public and private beaches. Private beaches include Emirates Palace Hotel beach and Hiltonia Beach. There is a public beach in the middle of the Corniche and also on the far West part of the corniche, west of Emirates Palace Hotel. Water sports offerings abound and the water is bathwater warm.

    Beaches

    Abu Dhabi Sunshine!

There are great beaches in Abu Dhabi, but it would probably be a better idea to stick to beaches privately owned by hotels, rather than public beaches.

jet skis are also availably for rent, at reasonable prices.
