This house was built in 1845. this house is probably the oldest one in Sharjah that still exists today. It belonged to 'Obaid bin Eisa Al-Naboodah' a wealthy pearl merchant. All Arabic houses have more or less a similar design; a small door leading to guests’ area and than to a court yard surrounded by family rooms. This house considered to be big by local standard of the time when most people couldn’t afford a brick house and used to live in tents or Areesh houses.

UAE was in south pole 3 times according to this museum in the last 300 million years.
This place is dedicated to the environment. It highlights the presence of various marine mangrove areas around the UAE, and the protected zones. It also talk about the Desert, mountains and sand. It also tells Earth's story from the big bang till today. it talks about the fossil record, the dinosaurs and other ancient animals. It highlights the geological phases of planet earth and describes the stages in which the UAE and the Arabian Peninsula went through. I was amazed to know that during the last 300 Million years The UAE was 3 times located in the South Pole!! I am looking forward to our next trip there!! It talks about continental shift, volcano, comet, solar system, galaxies. This museum is very interesting and educational with many short video presentations on various topics. There is a nice video which shows how the continents moved around in the last 500 million years.
It has nice sections on marine life. Sorry no cameras were allowed

It is located 200 meters up the road from the Heritage area along the Courniche road. You can visit the Sharjah Contemporary museum, Sharjah art museum, Bait Obaid Alshamsi, and walk around the little area and have a look @ some of the old houses. There are other things that I did not get to see and I am planning to visit them like the Sharjah Art school, Very special Art society (strange name) and the Emirates Fine arts society.

You can spend a day visitng the sites @ Hertiage area in Sharjah. It will be much cheaper to buy a single ticket 15 Dh or a family ticket for 20 DH rather than buy a ticket for each site. The ticket is good for @ least 2 weeks. It would be nice if you can visit during Winter to avoid the heat. Some of these sites are excellent and some of them not so good but if you are not paying any thing more why not enter all of them. The exhibits demonstrate how simple was life and how difficult was the envioment (and still is). I enjoyed the my visit, there is some thing refreshing about walking in narrow street. If you find that to be strange. I'll leave with some pictures

This facility is directed to kids. It is a good place to introduce scientific concepts in an enjoyable environment through games and fun. Every thing is explained in Arabic and English. There is a play hall for kids less than 5. There is also a gift shop, computer lab and a canteen. There is plenty of presentation about space and other scientific topics. The exhibits introduce to kids things like human anatomy and Physiology; concepts like visual illusions, sound and light properties, Gravity, Probability, space. It also has a microscope and telescope which the Kids can use. The employees are available to help children and explain things to them.
For this place you have to buy another ticket, Adult 5 Dh , Family 10 Dhs

I thought it will boring, but I was dead wrong. It was a big hit with the little ones who refuse to leave despite the heat. There are the usual stuff, cows, goats, camels, donkey, chickens, ducks and horses. Kids can feed the animals and they can take a camel or a horse ride. Make this the last thing you sea other wise kids won't wanna leave.
