Nice place to hang out with friends by Rinjani Good crowd on Thursday night. Good music, nice atmosphere (a bit crowd, but it’s allright) People love to come to Boston on Thursday night. It’s ladies night time. Ladies, you have three chances for free drink and you are free to dance on the bar’s table. It’s fun!

by Quero The Irish Village is an enormously popular spot among the expat community. You can get your fill of beer and still be outdoors since the seating is in a private garden area. As you would expect, the fare is pub food--fried, filling, and fattening. But what the h*ll, once in a while. The suds are fattening, too!

by Quero I hadn't touched a water pipe, called a "shisha" in the UAE, since, well since those long-gone university days. So when the opportunity arose, I reclined and relaxed, and took a trip... back in time..., drawing in the sweet smoke of...apple-flavored tobacco. This experience was part of an organized nighttime visit to a Bedouin show village in the desert, but there are many places where you can enjoy a shisha in Dubai itself. Many hotels have shisha bars, and even fast-food chains have shishas. Leave a Comment Theme: Other

Landscape by Cynthia_marie Dubai is a beautiful city at night. There are lights on all the Palm Trees; some of the buildings change colors in the evenings. The malls are usually open until midnight. On Fridays, (which is a Sunday to most of us), nothing opens until 2 pm. It is very safe to walk around Dubai by yourself during the evenings.
Anything and everything goes in Dubai. I was a bit surprised at this. Women wear mini-skirts; shorts; tank tops; you will see it all. However, on the private beaches there are signs posted indicating that going topless is forbidden. Leave a Comment Theme: People WatchingAddress: Dubai

(Barasti is the Arabic word for a traditional summer hut made of palm leaves.) Barasti Bar is one of Dubai's Winter-Hot-Spots: as soon as the temperatures start sinking below sizzling point & humidity drops to comfortable levels, hoards of expatriates throng down to the Barasti Beach, located at Le Meridien Mina Seyahi Hotel (near Dubai Marina.) It has been open for over a decade now, which in Dubai-nightlife years is more like half a century! At the end of 2006 this highly popular bar and club was renovated & extended, now boasting a fabulous seating area with view of the ocean and the hotel's yacht marina, as well as plenty of sitting areas on the beach itself. With 2 top level and 1 lower level bar (upstairs and downstairs) live music and the "Best Bar Food" (2008 TimeOutDubai Awards) this truly is a memorable place to hang loose and just enjoy sea-side vibes. There are also some large TV-screens showing major sporting events as well as the obligatory relaxation item: bean bags and sheeshas (water pipe). Fridays and Saturdays (weekend) are obviously the most popular, with patrons flocking down to Barasti from lunch time onwards. If you're hoping to catch some sunshine here on a weekend, arrive EARLY! I've been here quite a few times, especially for drinks before or after a nice dinner in one of the nearby hotel restaurants. Prices might have increased over the past few years, but that's nothing new in Dubai and the Barasti is nevertheless still a firm favourite of most of us.
On weekend afternoons you'll see most patrons in their swim suits and a funky sarong. Towards the evening, though, don't feel shy to dress-up a tiny bit for "beach chicness". But stiletto heels or a business suit are definitely out of place here. Opening Hours: 11:00am-02:00am daily. Special DJs Days: Thursdays: Jellyfish Funk (funky music) Fridays: Lollipop City (house & party tunes) Saturdays: Saturday Sanctuary (Chill-Out & Lounge music) Tuesdays: Moonlight Acid Jazz. Wednesdays: Latino Fiesta. "I know it's out of fashion, and a trifle uncool. But I can't help it, I'm a romantic fool. It's a habit of mine, to watch the sun go down. On Echo beach, I watch the sun go down..." - Martha and the Muffins Leave a Comment Theme: Eating and DrinkingAddress: Le Meridien Mina Seyahi Beach Resort & MarinaPhone: 00971-4-399 3333Website: http://www.minaeffect.com/

Barasti had always been a staple on the city’s al fresco radar for many a year. Its stunning outdoor location by the ocean’s edge proving an irresistible draw. Also, the fact that though a part of Le Meridien, it was a stand-alone bar refreshingly removed from by-the-lobby confines, was a rarity for Dubai. So when it downed its shutters for a massive refurbishment, there were fears that the newer version would be a distilled version of the old Barasti spirit. Thankfully, and rather amazingly, the new Barasti - about 3 times the size of the original - still manages to retain the intimate warmth of the Barsati of old. There’s now an upper deck with lovely views over the sea, the main extended middle deck where the bands come out to play, and a smaller lower level. Each with acres of space, where log chairs and wooden divans all help to perpetuate the sea-shanty vibe. The food’s decidedly hit-and-miss, the cocktails aren’t much to write home about, and the music swings between excellent acoustic rock to decidedly cheesy ska and 80s howlers. But when it comes to relaxed al fresco atmosphere, Barasti is a nip and tuck prettier than pretty much any bar in town.

My eevenings at creek's bars and restaurants are probably the thing I miss most of Dubai. It's a very quiet area where you can sit in very confortable chairs or sofa watching the sea, drinking something and smoking shisha. You cannot have alcohl as it is usually sold only in hotels but seafood is excellent and the atmosphear all lets you relax and enjoy a part of real Dubai life, infact this is the only place in the town where I noticed a high percentual of locals.
Whatever, just consider that it's pretty windy at least in february when we came. Leave a Comment Theme: Other

Oriental meets industrial in this divine little haven of spirits. Snuggled seclusively deep in the recesses of Wafi Pyramids, Ginseng plays up the intimacy factor with some truly stunning decor. The spot's warehouse-like origins having been varnished with a thick, rich texture of lounge-like exotica. Circular ceiling lamps, deep red textured walls inscribed with large Asian-character calligraphy, snug couches lining the walls, high steel and leather barstools around the tables, and lighting which almost begs for the music to be soft, subdued sexy fare. Which it duly is. Everything seems just right. The size of the place - small yet open. The staff - courteous, friendly and knowledgeable. And the increasingly hard-to-ignore food menu. California maki rolls, sashimi, spicy black-bean beef, the Ginseng platter filled with seafood goodness and other imaginative seafood dishes. But Ginseng carries the easy demeanour which comes from the confidence of knowing that there's something which it does like no other - its cocktails. Heavenly, expertly whipped up delights these are. Espresso Martinis, Rasbertinis, Lemongrass Bruleés, Rickshaws, Peach 'n Plum Caiprissimas... simply, the road to cocktail Nirvana.

These guys are regulars at Peanut Butter Jam! by Siddha3th, 1 more photos The non-descript Player's Lounge at the even more non-descript Chelsea Hotel in Bur Dubai does have one cozy little trick up its well-worn sleeve - The Unplugged Sessions on Friday evenings. Just the basics here - ok food, pretty harmless setting, chilled coronas - and musicians strumming through setlists filled with Crowded House, Snow Patrol, The Cranberries, Oasis, Counting Crows, and other soft, wistful fare. It's a delightfully laidback way to down a beer or two, spend a couple of hours wrapped in the music, and then head on out to another part of the town when the clock strikes 10. 360 at the Jumeirah Beach hotel is an open air bar built on a jetty with great views of ocean, Burj al Arab and JBH. It was packed Thursday to Saturday. You are supposed to put yourself on the guest list to get in, but we didn't get asked for that. Perhaps this was because we were staying at the hotel. If you get there about 6 there is a lovely sunset, the music was OK but a bit formulaic. Music on Thursday and Friday was hardish house, with 'chillout' on Saturday. There are some great shisha pipes with a huge selection of tobacco, and if you get there early there are some nice loungers to sit on...note that these were getting pretty dirty so don't wear your white jeans ! Drinks were extortionate but nice.
