Enjoy a cup of chai by Rinjani Dubai has a large Indian and Pakistani community. To find Indian authentic food is not difficult in Dubai. There are many restaurants in Dubai who has great Indian food. But, one of my favorites Indian is the drink who they call as “Chai”. Basically, Chai is a tea and milk. Everybody can make it easily. But, instead of making it myself, I love to visit tea stall, which spread out all over Dubai. You can find the tea stalls easily and usually many people hang around in front of the stall, for relax and having a cup of Chai in their hand while they chat with friends. Mostly, afternoon and evening are the time where tea stall is full pack with people. Chai is tea stall costs only 75 Fills (less than 1 Dirham) and Chai will be served in a small white plastic cup. According to my experience, not all Chai has authentic taste. Some tea stalls I visited only gave me boiling water, tea bag and drops of milk. I love those tea stall who gave me Cardammon taste for my Chai. The best Chai for me is when the tea used is a powder tea and they give some spices into it. It just tastes so good. My favorite Chai stall is behind of Gold Souq, Deira and in Satwa area. Unfortunately, the stall is not too common for a woman. The best way to do it is just take your Chai and go, or if you are driving, wave your hand from the car (the server will come to you and give whatever number of cups you requested) But, be careful. Most of Chai stall is in crowded area, which parking is difficult. So, you just need to wait for your Chai to come, and better go before police gives you a fine ticket. An intriguing proposition, isn't it... to savour food rooted in the Andalusian tradition, surrounded by the soft-glow warmth of a Moorish setting. A hint of Spain. A sprinkling of Morocco. With a nod towards the Islamic heritage of Granada. Thankfully, Al Hambra manages to pull all of these of, most of the time. And on the odd occasion when it does slip up, the innovative menu manages to whip you back into an enthusiastic frenzy with some delightful dishes. You can sit yourself outside, flanked by the Al Qasr's abra-filled waterways, and enjoy beautiful views extending across the Arabian Gulf. If the weather's a bit too warm for your liking, come indoors, where the accent is on the reds and oranges so typical to Moorish traditions. All exposed brickwork, paper and wrought-metal lamps, and fascinating high ceilings. Wash all these impressions down with a glass of rosé, and settle down to food, glorious food!
Wonderful bread appertifs - of the pepper, cinnamon and cardamom varieties, presented with olives, garlic mayonnaise and some very tasty hummous. Delightful seafood paella - lobsters, prawns, chicken and clams, simmered to perfection, and cooked into chunky brown rice. Very, very good - though the lobsters in my meal just seemed to taste a little bit off. Garlic prawn starters - the best prawn I've tasted in ages! Large, succulent pieces, marinated in a light mint sauce, flavoured in olive oil. Fantastic! The Dome Cafe by Siddha3th If you're craving some imaginative dishes made quick, The Dome Cafe should be right up your alley. There are a few Domes scattered around the city, but the best one's over in Bur Dubai. Sitting smack-dab in the middle of the small pavement leading up to Burjuman, this little place has got a lot going for it - great coffee, delicious food, and a nice laid-back vibe. Grab a table outside, and watch the world intersect at the crossroads to Bur Dubai, Garhoud & Sheikh Zayed Road. There's plenty of surreal neon all around, but strangely it never distracts, but only adds to the experience.
Chicken Pieces - a bowl of minced meat, but the real star here's the sauce which accompanies it - a sweet, tangy killer of a dip. The Club Sandwich - this one's like a meal for two, hugely portioned and hugely tasty! A trip to Dubai wouldn't be complete without getting up close to the Burj Al Arab, the iconic 7 star hotel. Unless you are staying there, the only way to get inside is to pre-book a visit to one of the hotel's bars or restaurants. As you can imagine, dining doesn't come cheap here, so one of the more economical options is to go for afternoon tea. Booking a few weeks in advance, the only afternoon tea slot available was at 5.30pm in the Sahn Eddar Atrium Bar, located off the hotel's lobby. We arrived early, which gave us plenty of time for taking photos outside, and then inside the lobby area. There are a couple of dancing fountains that could have entertained me for hours, and two massive fish tanks with tropical fish. Then you look up, up, up inside the atrium, amazing at the colourful interior. Camera's away then, as no photos are allowed in the bars or restaurants (to protect the privacy of the exclusive guests). We were seated at a window table with views out of the front of the hotel and to the beach beyond. We opted for the regular afternoon tea, not the special 'Festive' afternoon tea, and sat back to enjoy the exclusive, piano accompanied, atmosphere. Service was good, except that we had to ask for a glass of water three times.
The afternoon tea itself was a bit disappointing - certainly not up to the standard of a fancy afternoon tea in a London hotel. There was the usual sandwiches, scones and cakes, but nothing special. I guess we were expecting something better from the "Best Hotel in the World"....but I suppose they don't have to try too hard, people are going to flock there anyway. Kiku by Rinjani Three good things about Kiku….. food, food, food, atmosphere and attentive staffs. We took longer time to learn about our wide selection of menus. And the patient staff helps a lot to inform us about menu listed there. She also ask us whether we are sushi lovers who love to see sushi prepared, or fancy to watch live cooking performance, by Teppanyaki expert. And we took a middle way. We sat in Teppanyaki table and order sushi as a starter. It makes us happier….
The food is great! We enjoy our lovely evening, with a great ambience of surrounding, great food and bottomless green tea. The set menu is good option and good value of price. The portion is well designed so it won’t let you exhausted and heavy. One wise advise before you head to Kiku. Better call them to reserve your seat. It’s usually full packed at meal times. VT-er Jessica & I in high Irish spirits :) by Siddha3th The Irish Village in Garhoud is pretty much Dubai's most popular watering hole/ restaurant. The fact that it's been coming out tops on most year-end lists (including Time Out & What's On) for the past god-knows-how-many years oughta' tell you something! So what makes this place tick? Well, the food's pretty much standard pub/grub fare, though their fish 'n chips platter is one helluva tasty meal! What really sets the IV apart is the cool, laidback vibe floating through the place. When the weather's nice, you can sit outside on one of the wooden 'sofas', and chill out by the mini-lake. It's almost always packed to the rafters with expats, and the breezy atmosphere is pushed along by the two guys (in rotation), playing some good 'ol rock 'n roll. Inside, the decor stays true to the mantra adopted by Irish joints all over the world - cozy, comfy booths and that nice 'oak tree' feeling. Salut!
Fish 'n chips + Bangers 'n mash - tied for first place! The crisps are nice and fleshy, as is the fish. And the mashed potatoes come accompanied with a really nice gravy. Der Keller by Rinjani Der Keller is situated at the first floor of Jumeirah Beach Hotel. The selection of food is nice, and the staff helps me to choose based on restaurant’s recommended.
Der Keller is great for meat eater. There are nice selections of beef, veal, lambs and pork. I opted for the veal escalope and impressed with its taste. While buddies also happy with their food and definitely happier with German beer, we leave Der Keller with warm stomach and satisfied feeling. Al Fayrooz by Rinjani Al Fayrooz Lounge is a great place to relax from the exhausted day, treated your self a cup of café latte and share a club sandwich with your great buddy or loved one.
Situated at a lobby of Al Qasr, Al Fayrooz offers a great selection of sandwiches, tea and they also have children menu. The portion is generous for Club Sandwich and we are gladly to share our portion. I definitely recommend Al Fayrooz if you fancy to have a classy evening to impress your prospective date or just want to have a quiet conversation with your buddy. Me and a shisha... by Laerke You can sit both inside, outside and upstairs. Tends to get crowded with exclusive-looking guests at night. Its particully worth going at this time if you like checking out fancy cars. Very good service, though a bit expensive - you get what you pay for: quality. AND you can smoke shisha here. Maybe not the cheapest place, but coolest. Try 2 apples. No alcohol served.
The salad bar! Nice to sit outside as its almost impossible to eat anything else in the heat - even at night during the summer period jun - aug. Excellent italian icecream and coffee. Serves Italian, Japanese, Seafood andVegetarian.
