    Sunset swim

by solopes Updated Jun 9, 2014

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Staying in the beach during the hot hours, in summer days, is suicidal.

However, the swim at sunset surely compensates the hours under the protection of the air-conditioned. The heat is bearable, the water is hot, calm is everywhere, and the falling of the night a relaxing enhancement to the bath. Good moments!

    The Floating Bridge

by uglyscot Updated May 13, 2014

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

A new addition to Dubai's road system is the 300m long Floating Bridge ,which crosses the Creek between Garhoud and Makhtoum bridges, coming out beside City centre in Deira. At first it seems like any other bridge ,apart for the gilded decoration, until suddenly you realise you are almost touching the water.
The bridge was opened in August 2007. It can carry 3000 vehicles per hour on its six lanes. in an attempt to reduce congestion It is open to road traffic from 8am to 10pm because at night the bridge opens to allow ships to enter the creek.
Some of the creek cruise companies have complained that the bridge restricts their tours.

    Dinner cruise

by solopes Updated Dec 27, 2013

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

This dinner in a boat it's a different way to see the creek and to travel in Dubai in the air-conditioning.

The prices are reasonable, and the quality acceptable, however, don't expect a great experience.

The upper deck calls to romance, but... don't get too hot; nor the climate nor the local culture advise that...

    Buildings

by Madasabull Written Dec 6, 2013

The building are something else, and the building going on when I was there was something else. The hight of some of these things will leave you with neck ache, as you just cant help but to be always looking up at them. And they are not all squashed together like some big cities.

I got a taxi drive to take me up the coast a bit, and we came to a place that was like something out of a horror film. I looked like the end of the world, there was towering buildings all around being built, but nobody working that day. There were no windows in them at that time, and noboday walking around. I was like a city that everyone had evacuated.

Im sure that's not the case now, and they are complete.

    Beaches

by Madasabull Written Dec 6, 2013

Well, with no shortage of sand, and lovely clear waters, you can only expect beautiful beaches, and that's what you get, they are amazing. Only, when I was there it was 45 degrees in the shade (i know, keep out of the shade then) and far too hot to be on the beach. I would like to go back someday, but not when it is that hot.

    Atlantis Aquaventure Waterpark:Palm Jumeirah Beach

by machomikemd Written Aug 6, 2013

One Good Thing upon having a day trip to Aquaventure Waterpark in Atlantis Resort is that they have a private 800 meter (1/2 mile) long beachfront along their side of the Palm Jumeirah Islands, which are exclusive for the waterpark's guests (the Atlantis Resort has another private beach access along the other side for the check in guests, but check in guest also have access to this beach at aquaventure. The waters is are less rough than the jumeirah beach on the other side of the palm islands as this beach front is facing away from the Persian Gulf, hence the water is more calm and there is no riptide.

you can just hang around and sun bath at the beach or have a sun tan or watch the cute girls or have ice drinks via the Shark Bites Restaurant, which is the nearest restaurant to the beach. And don't worry as they have life guards here too.

Atlantis Aquaventure Waterpark Leap of Faith Slide

by machomikemd Updated Aug 6, 2013

The Leap of Faith Slide is the biggest attraction at the Aquaventure Waterpark. Atlantis Aquaventure Waterpark: The Torrent

by machomikemd Written Aug 6, 2013

While doing the rapids and the lazy river ride, one of the exits of the lazy river ride is the children's playing area, other zero entry pools, the tower of neptune (formerly the Ziggurat) and the Torrent. The torrent is the biggest pool in the water park and it is here where the huge wave generator (the torrent) is located, capablem of churning out 1 meter waves every 10 seconds. they also have many chairs and tanning beds in the area around it.

Atlantis Aquaventure Waterpark: River Rapids Ride

by machomikemd Written Aug 6, 2013

Since the Lazy River ride of Aquaventure has many detours and turns, you could turn up into one of the designed river rapids ride, where there are powerful jets below the pool that simulates being along a raging rapid in a river and the lazy river ride has several of them since it is not just one circle going around the waterpark but it is like an artery that criss crosses the water park and this rapids ride are exhilerating! see my videos too.

Atlantis Aquaventure Waterpark: Lazy River Ride

by machomikemd Written Aug 6, 2013

just near the entrance is the lazy river, called the rapids, it is a 1 mile long river like pool that zig zags along the area and surrounds the main Tower, the Zigurrat (now known as the Tower of Neptune). There are a variety of entry/ exit points along the long river ride and the ride can lead to zero entry pools or to various raging rapid style tubes or to the main swimming area with wave generator, called the torrent. you can get one person or two person inflatable tube in the lazy river ride. You can just travel around the lazy river rather than walk to go to other areas of Aquaventure.
