Palm Jumeirah Monorail, Dubai
I had read negative things about the monorail but personally I liked it. It now links with the new tram. Get on the tram from the metro at Jumeriah Towers Station or DAMAC Properties Station and get off at Palm Jumeriah. The walk from the tram to the monorail is odd as you go through a huge car park, but at least it is indoors and air-conditioned.
You cannot use your NOL card on the monorail. You must buy a ticket from a person or a machine. Single tickets are 15 dirhams, return tickets are 25 dirhams.
The monorail will take you up the trunk of the artificially created Palm Jumeriah Island to the Atlantis Hotel.
From the monorail there are wonderful views of The Burj al Arab Hotel, the Dubai skyline, the Atlantis Hotel Beach and Waterpark. You will also see all the posh houses on Palm Jumeriah Island. There is still some construction going on.
The Palm Jumeirah Monorail is a also owned by the Dubai Government and it connects the ultra luxe palm jumeirah islands and Atlantis Resort and Hotel to the Dubai Mainland. Altough it is owned by the government, it is still not connected to the Dubai Metro and your NOL card cannot be used in riding the Palm, Jumeirah Monorail. Construction is going on to connect it to Dubai Metro at the Dubai Internet City Metro Station. There are only two stations, the palm gateway station and Atlantis Station.
The Palm Jumeirah Monorail will be a fun ride starting at the base of the Palm Jumeirah Islands and it ends at the Atlantis Aquaventure Entrance in Atlantis Resort and Hotel Complex.
Ticket: single ride: 15 AED and round trip is 25 AED
The stations are open from 10am until 10pm 7 days a week
but the most practrical way to go to Atlantis Resort is via the Hop on Hop Off Big Bus Tour or taking the Dubai Metro up to Dubai Internet City Station then take a taxi to Atlantis Resort.
the monorail is 5.50 kilometers (3 miles long).
