    Wild Wadi Water Park
    by MartinaH
If you get the chance and like water - what you surely do when it's getting hotter and hotter - you should visit the aqua park "Wild Wadi". It offers many and funny fast water speed rides ! It's supposed to be one of the world's most advanced water theme parks.

It's located next to the Jumeirah Beach Hotel.

The sunshine and beaches were wonderful.
All the people we met were helpful and attentive, especially in our hotel
This photograph is of the Palm which will hopefully be completed end of 2006
There is so much building going on all aound Dubai but particularly along the beach areas. It will be around 8 years before most of the buildings are complete.
Palm Islands are expected to open in 2007, will feature a range of luxury hotels, sea village on the trunk of this island, boutique shopping, specialty restaurants and marinas with a range of leisure vessels Exotic aquatic delights including amazing aquariums, a killer whale stadium and engaging dolphins will provide a holiday destination in its own right.
You can see from my photograph, there is a lot of building work going on.

Everything from the sunshine, kind people, beautiful beaches, warm blue sea, shopping malls and gold souk visit.,all an experience

Dubai changes look in least time... every time that I return has been constructed something new quickly, ovunque u can see cranes for construction and where, some month before there was a car park, it will be a new shopping center with 300 stores!
The coast in not enough more! New plans of constucion of iartificial islands continue to develop, so they can build dreamvillas. A lof of citizens of the near Arabic countries buy luxury villas, palaces and appartementi in this new Las Arabic Vegas.....I knew a Oman family, They are rich but simply and traditionalists. they explained me that they come every month to make purchases and to amuse themselves, husband, wifes and and sons, for a week end to Dubai, where they have a villa, and then return for the rest of the month to the tranquillity and the tradition of their country. If you have the occasion to land during the day you will see in sea in front of Dubai and Sarjah the new Palms (by now are 4 various plans) and the World. The ship in the photo "spit" tons of sand on concrete supports in order to create the new islands! all it is created, but all it can also be destroyed... we hope that the nature not revolt!

A much better option than internet cafes - unless you want to use MSN Messenger for video link-ups - are the public libraries, or e-libraries. If there's one in the area you're staying in, check it out. They're modern, clean, quiet, reliable and cheap. One hour is Dh3 and two hours is Dh5. (Dh5 is US$1.35).
I've used the libraries in Al Wasl Road next to Safa Park and on Jumeirah (Beach) Road in Umm Suqeim, both have excellent facilities.

People often ask in the Forum whether their hotel will be affected by the massive construction that's happening in Dubai. Construction behind the string of hotels along Jumeirah Beach - including Sheraton, Hilton, Le Meridien Mina Seyahi, Royal Meridien, One & Only Royal Mirage and others - has largely been finished and there's now a very pleasant promenade of shops and restaurants.

However, there is construction all over Dubai and things move very quickly so it's best to ask the specific question in the Forum about your hotel before you book it.

The photo of the Sheraton Jumeirah Beach shows the Jumeirah Beach Residence development towering over the hotel. The other photos show Le Meridien Mina Seyahi an Hilton Jumeirah. As you can see, the construction work is just about finished.

  • Dirhams, or AED. - Dubai
    Dirhams, or AED.
    by colin_bramso
Dubai's currency is the UAE dirham, also known as AED, which are easily obtainable in the many currency exchange bureaux all over the city. They will convert just about any currency in the world into dirhams.
One side of the notes is printed in Arabic, the other side is in English, so you'll have no trouble knowing exactly what each note is worth.
There are 100 fils to one dirham.

Shopping was excellent. So much choice. This was taken in the Emirates Mall which has only just been opened. with different fashion shops, designers and high street, gifts, jewellery, electrical, toys, furniture, restaurants etc.
The newly opened ski slope can be seen from the mall and outside.
Ski Dubai has 5 slopes that vary in difficulty, height and steepness, the longest run being 400 meters with a fall of over 60 meters. Test your skills on the world's first indoor black run or practice your turns on the gentle beginner slopes. Skiers and snowboarders of all skill levels will enjoy these various slopes and snowboarders can also practice their stunts on the 90-metre long quarter pipe. Kids and parents alike will have fun in the huge interactive Snow Park, which at 3000 square meters is the largest indoor snow park in the world. People were just staring at the sight before them.

Most of the time tourists would be quite happy to lie on the beach and to swim in the warm blue sea or in the pool. There are several activities to keep you active, like, paragliding, banana boat, speed boat etc. Then the evenings can be free for shopping as the shopping malls open til late, mostly 11 pm.There is a slight tide and was about 4.30pm when we were there. So lazy days and eventful evenings if you like shopping or visiting other hotels.

Lovely warm sea and beautiful beaches. Also the attentive staff where ever we went. They could not have been more helpful and kind to us all. Even the children were happy and content where ever we went and were well catered for.Next time we go we may visit the water park which is next door to Jumeirah Beach Hotel for the children and big kids too.

Vry bright and airey with lots of facilites and eating places.

    So many shops

  • Best exchange rates. - Dubai
    Best exchange rates.
    by colin_bramso,

Every time we've needed to change money we've found Al Musabbeh offers the best rate.
It's located near the creek in Bur Dubai. From the abra station, walk a few metres back to the main entrance to the souk. About 100 metres into the souk, on the right, you'll find the small shop. There are several other exchange shops in the same lane, so you can check the rate in a few so that you can choose the one offering the best rate for your currency.

Just be careful with the notes when you shop - the fifty dirham notes are easily mistaken for five dirham. People are usually honest and will point out your mistake, but just check before you hand them over.
