Ramadan

by colin_bramso

The holy month of Ramadan is a time when Muslims fast between sunrise and sunset.Non-Muslims must respect the fast and also are not permitted to eat, drink or smoke in public during daylight hours. It is also even more important than usual to wear appropriate non-revealing clothing.Hotels have a restaurant open for their guests and some coffee shops and restaurants are open, screened or curtained off from public view.Supermarkets and food stores are open and take-away food is available - but it must not be consumed in public. Some shops don't open until after evening prayers, others open normally throughout the day, some open all day but close during prayer times. The evening is when everything is up and running, with shops and restaurants often open until the early morning hours.

DUBAI - FOOD TRIP

by jivanne96

What is more interesting in Dubai is you find lots of cuisines from all over the world. European, Asian, etc. I have decided for a change that I will try to update my photo Album and will title it Dubai - Food Trip. I will not try the fancy restaurant but the cheap restaurant. If you are also adventorous in food, join me..

Taxi Queues at shopping malls

by gugi66

At all the shopping malls you have to stay in Taxi queues to get a taxi, this queues looks long sometimes but dont worry it´s amazing how quick it goes because theres plenty of taxis in Dubai. It might take a little longer to get a taxi when the Malls are closing then everybody want to go and that will make a very loong queue. We tryed to get a taxi on our own and not stay and wait in the queue, so we went out on the sidewalk about 10 meters from the queueing people, BIG misstake a big guard/security came to us and said if you want a taxi you have to stay in the queue line, so with imbaressed heds we went back to the queue LAST!!!!!!! DONT MISS MY TRANSPORTATION TIPS OF TAXI, REALLY GOOD INFO.So my advice is to go about 15-20 minutes before the mall closes then you will get a taxi quite quick.

The Harbor

by gugi66

The Harbor by Creek Dubai is packed with small wooden boats that exports and inports goods from other countrys nearby. There is a chance to go on a wooden boat if you ask the kapten of the ship and if they have time, and ofcours dont forget to give them little money (5-10 dirhams) is ok. I didn´t go because I didn´t know, an other tourist told me when I were on my way home to Sweden.

skyline

by doreenellen

I am still amazed by the skyline and the many buildings which dominate Dubai. The NEW BURJ TOWER is nearly built. Up to 160 floors already and no one seems to know how high this building will actually be when finished. Skyline dominates the whole of Dubai

Construction problems.

by colin_bramso

People often ask in the Forum whether their hotel will be affected by the massive construction that's happening in Dubai. Construction behind the string of hotels along Jumeirah Beach - including Sheraton, Hilton, Le Meridien Mina Seyahi, Royal Meridien, One & Only Royal Mirage and others - has largely been finished and there's now a very pleasant promenade of shops and restaurants. However, there is construction all over Dubai and things move very quickly so it's best to ask the specific question in the Forum about your hotel before you book it. The photo of the Sheraton Jumeirah Beach shows the Jumeirah Beach Residence development towering over the hotel. The other photos show Le Meridien Mina Seyahi an Hilton Jumeirah. As you can see, the construction work is just about finished.
