Copacabana? Copacabanna?? Or just Copas???: Dance at Copa's

by Escadora7

You're in the heart of Bur Dubai. You don't want to go too far. Certainly not take a cab and spend your night stuck in traffic. But you'd like to let your hair down to some good music and nurse a bit of a drink. Where do you go? WHERE DO YOU GO??? COPA'S of course!!!Bang on bank street, you walk through the lobby of the stuffy Four Points Sheraton, up the elevator and there it is: Copa's - you enter and find yourself in a brasilian dance party. Decorated with lots of bamboo, palm trees, and a jungle motive, this is the right place if you want to dance, dance and dance some more! Open from 7pm to 3am, the place is usually packed on the weekends (Thursday and Friday nights). Mostly asians with a spattering of westerners, all out for the same thing - to have a good time. The energy, the drinks and most of all - the music: A mix of Bhangra, rave and some classics. Even though the dance floor...

Savage Garden: Salsa at Savage Garden

by Escadora7

Savage Garden's tropical theme brings to life the atmosphere of South America. You can enjoy an array of colorful cocktails, snacks, dinners, deserts, or just chill at the bar and enjoy the live-music of the Columbian house-band.In the early evening hours Savage Garden offers Salsa lessons, and you can dance away till the early morning and practise what you've learned. Call the hotel for exact times, cost, and levels of classes offered. Casual nice. Jeans are OK, but be dressed nicely - i.e. no torn shirts, etc.

PREMIER DISCO DEIRA ...............: THE BEST DJ'S TO ENJOY.........

by tabrez603

There is ample opportunity to pursue an active nightlife in all of the major urban centres in the UAE, except for Sharjah which does not have any bars or discos. The choice of night-time activities is obviously more limited in the rural areas. Bars range from sophisticated cocktail lounges to informal traditional British and Irish pubs and Western style saloons. In addition, there are numerous piano and jazz bars. Clubs and discos host both local DJs and big international names. You can also visit local nightclubs with Arab singers, belly dancers and musicians. World famous groups and individual stars from the the West, the Arab world, the Indian subcontinent and the Far East are frequent visitors. The hotels, in particular, vie with each other to stage the best live shows. Cabaret is standard fare in the hotel nightclubs, but it is during the winter season and on national holiday...

The Irish Village: Pub Crawling starts here

by american_tourister

The best spot in Dubai for a pint and some pub food. I have spent several afternoons here pounding down brew. It is friendly and not too expensive. The food is good, hearty pub fare. This is where the English speaking expats hang out and meet before and after clubbing elsewhere. Shirts and shoes required. Pants optional.

General: Clubbing in Dubai

by sabinasta

Dubai has a great nightlife and lots of clubs, bars, discos...Almost all of them are inside of the hotels or shopping malls, so you cannot see them from the street, you have to be informed, the only way you can find them. You can dress for the evening spot as in Europe when you go out!

The Lodge: Party Party Party

by sugar74

It's different from what you normally see around town. The Lodge has two dance floors - an open arena and an indoor club.If a group of friends have different tastes in music, all can go to the Lodge and party without breaking up the party!! Its best to check with them before you pop in. At times I have seen people with trainers being turned away and other times its okay...so please call before you go.

Capitol Hotel, Savage Garder: Suave mente!

by cheeksy

They play latin music. There is a nice band. Well, it was in 2002. But from what I heard the new band there is still nice. The place is not big, it's cozy. In between the sets they put some modern music or arabic remixes. So, basically, you could just grove away and if you can't salsa/merengue/samba you can just move along with some hip-hop/pop beats when the band is taking a rest. Casual. Wear whatever.

Boudoir: If you have the cash....

by jb9330

This club was a favorite of the locale college students on wed. night. It is a very posh bar that is way over-priced and gets far too crowded. It is the sort of place people go to show off their money. It is a good bar if you are into that scene, however, I could care less about showing off my money so it wasnt really for me. Trendy. No sneakers. If your a group of guys with now girls....your not getting in.

Jimmy Dix: Live Acts most nights

by jmschief

We found a number of good places to go in Dubai, the bar at the top of the Emirates towers was a highlight, especially the lift up.There's an Irish centre which was buzzing and we could watch live football there but the best place for us was Jimmy Dix which was connected to a hotel (Sorry, it was a long night so can't remember which one). From memory it was free to get in and when we got there, we were entertained on stage by a comedian from the UK, who I must admit I've never heard of but he was hilarious. After much joviality, a short break and a live band came on - can't remember what time we left, can't remember how we got back to the hotel so in my book - that's a pretty good night. Emirates towers was no 3/4 length shorts, I got all the way up there to be sent packing.I returned later with jeans which were ok
