Kabab Kolony in Karama Area: Don't miss this for Spicy Yummy food!

by Sa_scha

We happened to walk in to this place while trying to get to burger king in Karama area (which is next doors to Kabab Kolony) All the other restaurants in that area seemed not-so-clean where Kabab Kolony had a window overlooking their kitchen and Mark (my boyfriend and I) had been craving some Indian food. We decided to have indian because you don't do burger king on vacation, right? We walk in and great ambiance, great service. In the centre of Dubai near burjuman shopping mall so anyone visiting dubai must give it a try. We have tried Ravi (which was recommended to us for yummy kababs but Id say give it a miss) Seekh KababsChicken Malai (apparently marinated in cream and not v spicy) Biryani Chapli Bun Kabab (an indian or pakistani version of a greasy street burger)

Automatic restaurant: Huge Servings

by easterntrekker

This restaurant is around the corner from the Flora Grand and seems to be popular with locals. They serve authentic Labanese food which is delicious but we wished someone had warned us about the huge servings .We could have shared a dish and had some leftover. We had chicken skewers. It came with homemade bread , and pita and a huge bowls of fresh salad that you cut up and serve yourself. The prices are good . Our dinner for two with cokes came to $30.00.

Rococo: Quality Italian

by colin_bramso

A fine dining Italian restaurant in the Sofitel at The Walk, Jumeirah Beach Residence.Small but varied menu, excellent food but dated in its style...nouvelle cuisine and decorating food with slivers of gold leaf is very eighties!Service is excellent. Although I cringe at the pretentiousness of gold leaf slivers on it, the osso bucco is my favourite dish. I also enjoy chicken stuffed with mozarella & sundried tomatoes

Carluccios: A famous name at Dubai Marina

by colin_bramso

Shopping malls are not my favourite places for restaurants, but Carluccios is a bit different because in the outside area on the marina promenade you don't feel as though you're in a mall. The food is excellent and as you would expect is authentically Italian. There's a good variety of dishes including snacks, pasta, salads and main courses. Seafood features in many of the dishes. A favourite Italian dish for me is osso bucco and I was pleased to find it on the menu at Carluccios. As it should be it's served with rissoto rice. Geina's a seafood fan and she particularly likes the spaghetti alle vongole in bianco, that's clams with garlic, herbs & chilli. And we both enjoy the good old Italian favourite, spaghetti with meat balls

El Chico: Tex-Mex!

by akanqsha

El Chico is one of my favorite restaurants at Jumeirah Beach Residence. The Fajitas and the enchiladas are too scrumptious to resist! Look out for the Basket of Tortilla Chips doubled with some amazingly spicy salsa. The burritos and nachos are simply delicious! The staff prove an excellent service. A good hang-out for family & friends, and also a fairly romantic place for a date with your beloved! Overall a good mexican experience..with a hint of texmex! The Apple pie with the cinnamon ice-cream is a delight for your taste-buds! For sea-food lovers..the grilled Salmon dish is a must-try! I simply loved the Chicken Taco Salad. The Chicken Taco Salad was covered with cheese and the chicken that was used was pepper-boiled and mixed with red sauce. The chicken is boiled thoroughly, marinated with some good red sauce and pepper-mayonnaise-like base. The cheese all over makes it even more...

Inferno: Excellent International menu

by colin_bramso

A large casual cafe/restaurant right on the water at Dubai Marina. The inside is OK but it's best to sit on the large terrace or in the shisha area, both overlooking the million dollar boats moored at the marina, with the high-rise buildings as a background across the water.A wide range of cuisines includes western, Indian, various Asian, seafood, snacks and desserts.Open from late morning and the kitchen closes after midnight.Very friendly efficient service and everything we've eaten here has been excellent. Madrasi Chicken Curry; Fried Rice; Fish & Chips;Grilled Tuna Steak; Rib-eye Steak. For dessert, the Saffron Creme Brulee is fantastic! As the restaurant isn't in a hotel it doesn't serve alcohol. Don't let that put you off though.

Baskin Robbins: My favourite ice cream!

by colin_bramso

Some great flavours always available, with a choice of toppings, served in a cone or cup. Most outlets have a small seating area, some have outside seating too. Praline & Cream, vanilla ice cream with praline coated pecan pieces and soft caramel ribbons. Gold Medal Ribbon, vanilla and dark chocolate ice cream with soft caramel ribbons. World Class Chocolate, dark and white chocolate ice cream. Chocolate Mousse Royale, milk chocolate ice cream with chocolate flakes and of course my long-time favourite Vanilla. Two scoops plus toppings of your choice, AED13. If I have toppings I usually have chopped almonds and sometimes I also have hot chocolate fudge sauce.

Kan Zaman: Creekside outdoor dining.

by colin_bramso

A huge restaurant with seating for 1,000 people, in the restored historic area of Shindagah in Bur Dubai. Right on the creek, it's best at night, when it fills up around 9.30. The dinner-tour dhows, outlined in lights, go right past. Great food, service, atmosphere. A big menu of international and Middle Eastern dishes but it's best to stick with the Arabic food which they do extremely well.Sheesha is available with many different tobacco flavours.Sitting in the darkness with the lights all around, the scent of sheesha on the warm night air, dhows sailing past, the moon above, the call to prayer echoing out...it's a real experience you shouldn't miss. Shish tawouk with either rice or fries plus a dish of hommos, which comes with complimentary freshly-baked Arabic bread (watch it being made in the tandoori oven) and a big dish of salad. As the restaurant isn't in a hotel it doesn't serve...

Khan Murjan: Bustling souk-like atmosphere

by colin_bramso

This large bustling restaurant is part of the new souk at Wafi Mall in Bur Dubai.Currently, July 2008, it's only part opened, that being the open roof area where smoking, including shisha, is permitted. An additional enclosed non-smoking are is due to open soon. It's a great atmosphere, and given that it's in a brand new mall it's as close to an outdoor traditional souk as it could be. The live band playing traditional Arabic music is a bonus. The food, to be honest, isn't as good as many other restaurants and it's about 30% more expensive than many. They also do not give the complimentary salad, olives, pickles that is normal in Lebanese restaurants. Overseas visitors will probably think it's value for money, our meal of three dishes plus a bottle of mineral water & Turkish coffee was AED130, which is £17, US$35, €22.But it's OK and for the overall experience I recommend trying it.They...

Johnny Rockets: Fifties-themed hamburger joint.

by colin_bramso

A nostalgic, authentic, fifties themed diner. Decor, staff uniforms, memorabilia, menu are all designed, as they say on their website, to provide "a place where people can escape today's complicated world and experience the food, fun and friendliness reminiscent of feel-good Americana." It does just that and does it well.Hugely popular with Emiratis, you will always see groups of young ladies enjoying themselves together here. It seems strange to see them in their traditional, elegant abayas & shaylas in a hamburger joint! Burgers, dogs, chilli, sandwiches, malts, sodas.
