On the road from Dubai to Hatta you'll pass a string of shops all selling a variety of pottery and a very good selection of carpets. Perhaps fifteen or twenty shops, clustered together as is the custom here, and they are iron-roof, very simple huts really, but they have an amazing array of stock.
What to buy: Much of the pottery seems to be unfired and brittle, so it may not travel in one piece.
The carpets are excellent value (you'll need to bargain) and very good quality. There is wool, silk and nylon available in hundreds of different sizes, shapes and designs and they come from places such as Belgium and Iran.
What to pay: It all depends on the size, shape, material etc etc, but you will find that they are very much cheaper than in the city shops. You must bargain hard.

We've had some questions on the Forum about chocolate shops, so here's one for the chocoholics. A very big selection of top-quality Belgian chocolates, sold individually or in pre-packed selections.
The shop also serves coffee and tea, so you can sit and relax while you decide which chocolates and how many to buy.
What to buy: The choice is yours, they offer milk, dark and white chocolate with a big variety of different centres.
For coffee I always have Turkish, medium. Which means a small cup of black, strong coffee flavoured with cardoman, just a little sugar.

The best souvenir shop in Dubai with good prices (there is possible to bargain here). I have looked in many places for a small souvenir with several Dubai landmarks on it and this is the only place I found it for a good price, and it was crystal too.
THIS IS THE PLACE TO GO TO FOR PURCHASING SOUVENIRS
What to buy: Souvenirs
What to pay: Depends on how good you bargain

The most beautiful shopping mall I've ever seen! Can't stop taking pictures inside and outside;) So I ended up buying NOTHING!What I admire the most is, the handpainted ceiling,it's awesome!
Aside from the wide choices of shops, there are also numerous restaurants and fast food outlets int he food court, it reminds of the shopping malls in Manila Philippines.

Not technically a souq, this tucked away treasure trove of bargains is housed in what is best described as two modern buildings reminiscent of a 1960s UK shopping centre. This is the place to go for leather goods and fake designer casual wear.
What to buy: All shops sell similar wares, some of the most popular being ‘Gucci’ handbags and ‘designer’ label jeans
What to pay: Expect to pay about two thirds less than you would for similar goods in a shopping mall. Leather handbags and wallets are the best bargains. A few outlets now quote ‘fixed prices’ and are best avoided since their neighbours will happily haggle over identical goods. Blue Marine is one of the largest and most popular stores.

The Gold Souq is one of the city’s most popular tourist attractions and it is easy to understand why. In the unlikely event that you cannot find what you are looking for most shops will design jewellery for you and all are happy to mount stones that you have purchased loose. Most jewellery is 24 carat and none is less than 18 carat.
What to buy: Be sure to haggle vehemently and be prepared to walk away if you cannot get the price you require, there will be another shop just a few doors down offering a similar product. Remember to check the daily gold price in the newspapers.
What to pay: Barter, Barter , barter!

This is an absolute Aladdin's cave, it's called the Antique Museum, but is actually a huge shopping warehouse filled to the rafters with weird crazy stuff from all over the middle east and asia. Think snakes pickled in jars, puppets from thailand, furniture from india and lamps from the Middle east. Fantastic place to get presents and odd stuff for the house, I went this morning and got some beautiful cusion covers for 20 dhs, (3 british pounds approx.) also a chest of drawers hand made for 250 dhs, some arabic lamps for 90 dhs. There is a huge textiles section with table clothes, bed spreads etc and tonnes of pashminas for around 40 dhs. Be warned it's pretty hot, but the staff are awesome, they bring you cold water and pepsi and really look after you. They also will call you a taxi to get home so no need to worry about having to catch a taxi outside.
What to buy: arabic lamps, crazy old statues of buddhas and stuff, textiles, (cushions, pashminas etc)
What to pay: depends how much you buy

The Mall is very big and has a big Careefour(French Store), most of the big designers and upclass shops. Quite expensive too as the shop owners must be paying huge rents to the mall : )
