The Spice Market: Try the Cardamom Tea

by easterntrekker

Spice MarketThis is a traditional market with a wonderful display of fresh spices. There are lots of venders with there little shops along old narrow passage ways. So tempting but not wise to buy at this early stage of our trip . So many spices , some with dubious claims . Such as the Natural Viagra! I did buy some cardamom tea however to enjoy in our hotel. Bargaining here is expected and necessary. The shop keepers here are friendly and more laid back then many we have encountered in our travels.

Al Mussabeh: Money exchange

by colin_bramso

Every time we've needed to change money we've found this shop offers the best rate. As you walk through the souk towards it you will pass other exchanges, so ask them their rate too, then simply choose the best if one of them offers a better rate than Al Mussabeh.By the way, be careful when you're shopping - the fifty dirham note is quite similar to the five dirham note and you can easily hand the fifty over thinking it's a five. Most people are honest and will point out your mistake, but it pays to check before you pay.

Breathtaking!: Ibn Battuta Mall

by colin_bramso

One of the most amazing shopping malls in Dubai! A good range of shops of course, about 300 in total, but it's really worth visiting to look at the mall itself. It's themed around the journeys of the 14th century Arab explorer Ibn Battuta, with six areas designed to show the six main areas he visited - China, India, Persia, Egypt, Tunisia, Andalusia. The design, decoration, attention to detail is astonishing.Plenty of designer clothing shops, footwear, electronics, sports goods, jewellery, perfume, food outlets, a hypermarket, department stores...the usual shopping mall choice. It also has very interesting, large, beautifully created permanent displays of Islamic inventions and artifacts, which are a real education.

Burjuman Mall: Bur Dubai's big designer mall.

by colin_bramso

Over 300 shops plus food outlets in the heart of Bur Dubai, easy walking distance from many of the Bur Dubai hotels. There is an older section plus a beautifully designed new three-storey section. Over 300 shops offering the usual variety of goods including designer stores, mens & womens clothing, cosmetics, sportswear, jewellery & watches, electronics, home furnishings, books & stationery, footwear, textiles, tailoring, opticians, photographic equipment plus a food hall, restaurants & cafes. There's also a tourist information booth.

~ The Mall of the Emirates ~: ~ Dubai Shopping Tour ~

by Heavens-Mirror

We did a full morning shopping tour of Dubai. It was simple as we got to go where we wanted to, we got picked up from our hotel at 10am and the driver asked us where we wanted to go so we said Mall of the Emirates as lots of people had recommended it to us. The tour lasted 4 hours and we went to Mall of the Emirates and the Ski Dome for a look inside. The Mall of the Emirates is huge, there are lots of department stores including Debenhams, Harvey Nicholls, Carrefour, River Island, Next, Fat Face and many others. There are also lots of electrical stores and jewellers if you want some nice gold. There is also the famous indoor ski dome with real snow if you fancy giving the slopes a try. I really enjoyed the Mall of the Emirates, it was very clean and also beautiful with nice marble floors and the public toilets were immaculate too. There is everything you can think of in Mall of the...

Emirates Mall: Which mall is the best

by highseas

Of the 3 outrageously huge mall, my favourite will be Emirates though it is not the largest. Dubai mall is the largest by floor space but that's it, only floor space. It's too huge with too few shops and if you want to get across from this side to the other the walk is too much.Ibn Battuta is a nice mall with great decorations as you can feel the century old multi country theme but the location is a little way out from the city center. If you are nearby the Marina at Jumeira then you are fine. This mall caters more to local taste and products.Inside Emirates is Ski Dubai which is a multi storey high ski facility. Yeah believe it, this is what having oil money is about. Honestly, Emirates provide all that you can ask for.It would help to have a good pair of walking or sport shoes though... I think electronic is reasonable, sometimes the price might not be cheaper as I come from South...
