    "And I'm freeee, free fallin'....!"

The Aeroclub was custom built in 2004 & includes runway with length of 1,800 metres and 30 metres wide. There are currently over 175 members; almost half are overseas members & European expatriates. The club also offers private pilot licences, helicopter flights, aerial sight-seeing tours, hangar rental, etc.

This is the only aeroclub in the UAE that offers Sky Diving, which coincidently is also their primary activity with a team of fully qualified instructors.
Eugene, the main skydiving instructor, has done over 5,000 tandem jumps & many of the other instructors (such as Marc the camera man) are ex-military. We were really impressed that these "dare devils" also displayed a high level of professionalism; something you don't find very often in the UAE!
Because of the UAE's stable & highly predictable weather conditions, courses & scheduled jumps are usually carried out & completed on schedule.

Equipment: Tandem Skydiving is the safest way to experience skydiving for the first time: 2 people using one large parachute, this is an ideal way where you can enjoy the thrill of skydiving with just a few minutes of instruction.
Before boarding their specially modified plane, the instructor informed John & Ruben of all safety procedures & went through the various body & leg positions for jumping, flight & landing with them. To partake in a tandem skydive you must be older than 18 years of age & not weighing more than 200 pounds.

Eugene had one final "warning" for the boys:
"Be careful... you do this once, you get addicted to it!"
As there is limited space in the Cessna, John took off for his jump first & Ruben afterwards. The climbed to an altitude of approx. 12,000 feet above sea level, which takes around 20 minutes... a last prayer to all your gods, angels & mother earth and out you Gooooooo!
Eugene immediately released a small stabilising chute to stop from spinning, and after about 30 seconds of free fall pulled the main parachute to float safely to the ground below, where I was waiting anxiously but also extremely happy to see my honey with a huge smile on his face (a grin which he couldn't wipe off his face for the whole next week!)
