Bus from Union Station Dubai and Taxis in UAQ
To Umm Al Quwain - As of June 2011
From Dubai, Union Station, walk out Exit 1 and to your right once your outside and down the steps you will see buses lined up. There is a little ticketing office where you have to purchase a ticket for 10dirham. Then walk past all the decent buses and double deckers the the mini bus with no sign on it. You will be getting on the Ras Al Khaimer bus which stops off in UAQ. Buses leave on the hour daily till 10pm.
You can also catch a bus from Sharjah Bus Terminal.
These are the only two current bus services into UAQ. ( A friend did manage to score a bus from Abu Dhabi, we think it was the Sharjah bus and they kicked him off when he was near UAQ and hitched into my city. The locals were fascinated by the white boy walking in the desert with his camera, not many westerners in these parts at all - he had a great time)
Taxi from Dubai: 150 - 170 dirham (good for sharing)
Taxi from Sharjah aprox: 50 dirham
Taxi from Ajman aprox: 35dirham
Once in the UAQ - a taxi anywhere, Old Town right up to Emirates Garage at the big Ajman roundabout is 5 dirham. People have paid 2-3 dirham, I tend to pay 5 anyway so Im not confused. The taxis dont always have the Taxi sign on the car and I have yet to see a metered taxi here.Related to:

How to get to Umm Al Quwain
Umm Al Quwain is situated in the north of the UAE between Ajman and Ras Al Khaimah on the West coast. Its land spreads for a distance of about 30 km and nestled on a peninsula on the coast of the Arabian (Persian) Gulf.
You can easily get to Umm Al Quwain from Dubai (30-40 km), Sharjah (20 km) and Ajman (15 km) by car, taxi or by excursion bus (like we did).
You can watch my 2 min 35 sec HD Video Umm Al Quwain out of my Youtube channel with Aneela - Jande.Related to:
