Out on the tiles...

by travelinxs

There really isno night life so to speak of unless you are lucky enough to find yourself at an embassy party (see travelogue under Sana'a) or at the Russian club, which I havent visited yet but apparently can be a bit of fun and yes, I believe alcohol can be found there....But dont miss Sana'a at night. It is very beautiful with stained glass and an orange hue to the buildings. Make it before midnight as you might get arrested much later.

NONE: Nightlife??? A joke

by hydronetta

You're not going to Yemen to enjoy nightlife. There are not any clubs or bars. And even if you'd find any place, this is an Islamic country and alcohol is banned. In fact in villages and smaller towns your only options are happenings with your fellow travellers at your hotel. In Sana'a things are better. It almost a fairy tale experience to wander around the desserted streets of Old Sana'a or soak up the people meeting in Al Tahrir square.Only exception was the funduq in Manakhah which arranged dinner with live music and dance show, which depending on groups can last till midnight.

Talking for nightlife to Yemen, is a kind of jock. And we talk for the capital Sana'a.There are bars in to the presticious hotels, also the tourist city, where i dont visit.Take a look to the picture, and see my favorite club, that unfortunly was always close. If you find it open, tell me about the interior design, and the dress code. After that, just enjoy the daylife No Jeans

Sanaa: Old Town Sanaa at night

by MichaelFalk1969

The Old Town of Sanaa is especially beautiful in the evening, when the stained glass-windows are illuminated and the city radiates an atmosphere like a "1001 nights" - fairytale. As Sanaa Old Town is pretty safe even at night, you should not miss this opportunity.

On top of any hotel: Arabian stars and sounds

by JohnniOmani

One of my lasting memories of Yemen is the sunset setting over Sana'a and other centers. If you are staying in a hotel that doesnt have a high rooftop then try to find one like the Taj Talha in Sana'a. The views are stunning and listening to the call to prayer can be almost magical. It is a great way to not only view a city but also hear it and experience it. Yemen has some fantastic traditional homes/hotels and the rooftop experience is unforgettable. It captivated me and the sights and sounds still linger in my memory.

Russian Club: The only disco in Sanaa

by calum_aj

The Russian Club is the only nightclub/bar I know of in Sanaa, and is very well hidden in a complex called the Tourist City....To enter, we had to pay a couple of thousand riyals at the door (just the men, women got in free) which was followed by a frisk search from the bouncer...needless to say by this time we were expecting something pretty special when we walked through the doors!! but found it to be very seedy and full of prostitutes and dodgy-looking blokes. However, all that was outweighed by the fact that there was a bar and a dancefloor (rarities in Sanaa!) and in the end we had a really beaut night with lots of dancing and laughs....definately worth a visit, but best to go in a large-ish group (there were 6 of us) to avoid hassle - and beware that the bouncer most probably won't let Yemenis in, but if he does then he'll keep their ID in case of trouble....enjoy! Pretty casual

Well, this is going to be a short section. If you are male, you can drink tea in a cafe, play snooker, eat, or go to the cinema (if you like cheap karate films and heavily censored Indian movies). There is also the Sheraton which is more geared up to the needs of Western tourists, but I never went there. If you are female, well, there's always reading in your hotel room....
