Basic bar and dancing, but hey...where's the competition*? Beer and vodka. Mixed audience of Russians, expats, Yemeni men, some women from across the Red Sea. Recently introduced entry fee - for men only, women are free - of YER 2000 (EUR 8), also good for one drink. *British Club (Hadda area), but in principle for members and their guests only; Movenpick nightclub (similar to Russian Club, but obviously a lot more fancy); Oasis restaurant at the Taj Sheba hotel (dinner, alcohol and a cheap trio of singers from Latvia or the Philipines).
No dress code. *Movenpick and Taj Sheba should be smar casual or even a little more formal. Theme: NightclubAddress: Tourist CityDirections: Behind the Sheraton, close to the US Embassy. At the Tourist City compound it's the first turn left, then turn right at the end.

They have a rooftop coffee shop, but they also have a roof top you can literally climb onto where they have the water tanks mounted. I am sure they do not want you to do this, but who’s looking? The very best view of the Old Town at night is up here. I climbed up – very carefully – with a torch (flashlight) and a tripod for my camera. What a fantastic view! I would encourage anyone to at least go and visit the coffee shop, whether they are open or not. The hotel will let anyone who asks politely to climb the stairs to the roof and have a look. Hold on tightly to your camera!
Good climbing shoes if you want to go to the very top. Leave a Comment Theme: OtherAddress: P.O. Sanaa does not offer a lot of night life spots. This does not necessary mean that it is a dead city after sunset, infact going around the streets of the old town you'll meet many people around talking, walking and above all kids playing on the street. This walk will give you the chance one of the most beautiful night view you'll ever see as, this town and its peculiar buildings take other colours and transform themselves after sunset. Any door, any house, any single window is something that let you surprise, and for once, lets you feel away from home.
Night is pretty cold so consider a sweater or a jaket. Leave a Comment Theme: OtherDirections: old town

the city at night by call_me_rhia Let's face it, Sanaa's nightlife is not very exciting - nor were we looking for wild nights. Our favourite night-time activity was so walk around the old town and try not to get lost, as there are very few people out in the streets. We enjoyed the sights, and above all the peace and quiet. No traffic, no noise... just some children playing fooball and trying to engage us in a game - which we declined. They might have been tiny toddlers but knew how to kick the ball, unlike us... Also, while you you are walking around, look up and see the colourful stained-glass windows lit. A sight to behold. Thousand and one nights...
Dressed - modestly if possible. Leave a Comment Theme: OtherDirections: the old town

Sanaa get real dark at night, I don't recommend going outside your hotel just cause its dark and well anything could happen. But don't worry there are things to do, most places observe the Muslim law and don't allow drinking but at the new Movenpick hotel and the Sheraton the have live music and alcohol. I didn't go to the Movenpick but I had dinner at the Sheraton. They have this tent outside of the lobby and there is a band and a pretty good buffet. Its an open air area so it nice and the music is a nice unexpected way to spend the night. People start drinking and dancing and I even saw some girls take off their hijabs. The problem was that after some hours of drinking people started to fight, some old man become superman after a couple of drinks and the police had to come and settle things down. Once I saw what was about to happen I left cause I know there are plenty of guns to go around in Yemen and I didn't want to see what might happen. Thankfully the cops solved the problem and no one got hurt. Theme: Eating and Drinking
