Flight from Sanaa to Jeddah

by Pakistaniguy

We all waited and waited and waited for 2 hours and then all of a sudden Saudi Arabian Airline's staff started Boarding! I was shocked and happy but i was totally confused what was going on because i knew that a plane can't come earlier than expected and i knew that this plane can't fly then which plane will be taking us to Jeddah ! i tried to ask a guy but he was busy in taking boarding passes. So, we all were now in a bus who was driving us to the plane. I tried to see if there are two aircrafts of Saudi Arabian Airlines but there was only one and the shuttle bus stopped right in-front of it !!! Ahhh from that moment on, i died and lived countless times. I knew that this plane had faults and they are just taking a risk of flying it now because its just an hours flight. To be 100% sure i asked one of the airline's personal, just before entering the aircraft that how can suddenly we are...

Flight from Sanaa to Jeddah

by Pakistaniguy

This was my life's most horrible flight ! I knew that the plane will crash. I saw it happening several times in the movies and i felt that it is my turn to be one of those who die in plane crash. Do I sound insane ? No ! let me tell u why i felt that !As you can see in the picture that i am wearing Ahram (The dress to be woren before going to Makkah for visit) so i was prepared for this religious journey. I had my Saudi Arabian Airline's flight from Sana'a to Jeddah. I was told that it is confirmed and on-time. I said good-bye to my uncle and auntie. Checked-In even with extra luggage but the staff of Saudi Arabian Airlines was nice and helpful and they didn't over charged me. Immigration officer was not on his seat but he came back immediately after seeing me standing there for 3-4 minutes. Now the last thing was to board the plane and fly ! I waited for 60 minutes and there was nothing...

Yemenia - Yemen's National Airline

by Pakistaniguy

Yemenia is the Yemen's only and also the National Airline. Saba Airline should be launched but i think it would never be launched because people in Government of Yemen do not want any other airlines from the country to compete with Yemenia. Yemenia, offers between Sana'a and several European and a few American destinations such as London, Paris, Rome, Milan and New York.

Fly with Emirates to Sana'a, Yemen !

by Pakistaniguy

I flew as usual with Emirates which is Middle East's Best and have also been awarded to have The Best Economy Class in the World (2004). I took the special offer of Emirates for 210 US$ (Included Taxes and Return Fare) for Dubai-Sana'a-Dubai. It was a very good price but this offer is only available for the passengers who are coming into Middle East from another region. This offer is called Arabian Pass. I bought this Arabian Pass in Pakistan. It was very convienient as i didn't have to purchase another ticket in Dubai in order to go to Sana'a.

Sana'a International Airport, Yemen

by Pakistaniguy

I think I've seen quite a few airports but never saw something as flat as this one. Ahhh may be Siem Reap Airport in Cambodia is like this one but that one is more clean and tidy than this one ! Sometimes it is good to fly from Easy Airports instead of Modern Airports which consume a lot of time of a traveller. Never forgot, Time is money and a budget budget traveller never wants to overspend any single penny ;-)Sana'a airport has a big OOOOKKKKK. I have been told that there is a new airport planned to be constructed soon but no one knows when it'll gonna happen. The location has already been allocated somewhere further down the road from the current airport. There is no website of this airport which i can recommend. I'll just say that if u are planning to do last minute shopping and other things which u often do at the airport, unfortunately u won't be able to do here. So, kindly plan...

Arriving in Sana'a

by Pakistaniguy

The Flight from Dubai to Sana'a was in the early morning. I arrived in Dubai from Karachi at night and then i had a lay over for around 8 hours. According to rules of Emirates, Passengers having more than 6 hours are provided free stay hotel OUTSIDE AIRPORT and their visas are also arranged for free. But i thought that it is too much because if i had opted for this then i had to go through Immigration and go to the hotel, sign in and then sleep. I prefered to sleep in the business lounge provided to the SILVER CARD Frequent Flyer (FF) members of Emirates's FF Program called Skywards. So, I easily slept there and also enjoyed the facilities such as 24 hrs buffet and Internet. In the morning, i took my flight to Sana'a. It departed and arrived on time. It flew over Oman and Saudi Arabia and then entering Yemen from Northern border with Saudi Arabia. Sana'a Airport is basically just an air...

I flew with Yemenia from Damascus to Sana'a via Aden, which cost US$500 return (fairly expensive when a return from London costs £395 with the same airline). It was an 'interesting flight - the 'in-flight entertainment' wasn't so much the overhead television screen and radio, more like the passengers, who sang along to their headphones and clapped with the films, and when we stopped in Aden there was an awful lot of confusion as to who was getting off and who was continuing on to Sana'a. Once that was sorted, there was the ritual of saying goodbye to all their new friends, which resulted in an hour's delay leaving from Aden! I would recommend Yemenia Airlines to anyone! I also enjoyed the handwritten ticket for the flight , bought in Damascus. Or you could take a flying horse, like the lady in the painting! (BTW, this is a painting by the Yemeni artist Fuad al-Futaih...find out more...

Apart from the flights listed above, Yemenia also flies direct to Frankfurt, Rome and Paris, as well as most other Middle Eastern cities. As for Africa, Yemenia has cheap and very tempting flights to Asmara, Djibouti and Addis Ababa, all from Sana'a, and from Aden you can fly to Dar es Salaam direct.Travelling by land is adventurous adn difficult, though not impossible. The border with Saudi Arabia is open, but getting a visa would be the only problem. If the rumour about the Sana'a-Jeddah bus is true, then it might be possible to get a 5 day transit visa, as from Jeddah you can get buses to Amman. Getting to Oman is more difficult, as you have to get to Al-Mahra province first. You have the choice of an underused road, or a sambuq ride along the coast to Salalah - I'm not sure if this is legal or not, but I met someone who was attempting it...I haven't heard anything more from them, so...

From Amsterdam we took a direct flight to Sana'a, the capitol of Yemen. For a tourist it is impossible to cross the borders with the neighbouring countries Oman and Saudi-Arabia.The best way is to hire a car with driver for all your travels outside Sana'a. Traveling low-budget you can take busses or long-distance taxi's which are more than full from one town to an other.

Don't forget to reconfirm your Yemenia flight !!!

by Pakistaniguy

i like Yemenia policy to remind its passengers that they must reconfirm their flights 4 days before flying with them.
