RUMCAKE : They also make...

by Chrystalain

RUMCAKE : They also make rumcake. Wow! Délicious. The best cake I ever ate! Furthermore, you can keep it out of the fridge for more than a year (before you open it). But for a very small cake of 4 oz (approx. 10 cm / 4 po.), it would cost approx. 8$ US and 25$US for a one pound cake (½ kilo)! Really good, it’s a sin! http://www.hortonsbermudarumcakes.com/

by Khryssie

Check out the beaches! Visit the resturants. Go to St. George's if you like history...the streets will take you back into time! If you are renting a scooter, drive the entire island. It is small enough that you can get a glimpse of its entire beauty quickly! If you can, look out the window of the airplane when you get close enough to the island. That itself is a picture to remember! The people...Bermudians. Very friendly, and 'jolly!!' Don't think I met a mean, or rude one my whole month there!!

GO FISHING! (try http://jumpdembones.01.free.bm/ ) Whether you go off shore or with a guide fly fishing the flats--it's a delight to fish these waters. GO SNORKELING! See the fish and reef in their habitat--green turtles too--just don't wear shiney things in the water and barracuda ('barrys') will probably leave you alone--actually you have NO WORRIES! Drink a rum swizzle at the Swizzle Inn, 'Swagger out' as the sign reads. Working on the Bermuda Green Turtle Project with Profs. Ann and Peter Meylan, exploring the Botanical Gardens and then Ft. St. Catherine's on a quiet weekday morning, snorkling round Castle Rocks and jumping off the rocks, fishing on the flats for bonefish with sand worms as bait, standing in St. Peter's Church cool Bermuda cedar sanctuary on a July afternoon, an unusual August thunderstorm that shook the house, using a friend's Mid-Ocean Club membership to get...

by toopey

I recently returned from Bermuda and I wish I was still there! I am a filmmaker and I was invited to attend the Bermuda Int'l Film Fest (BIFF) to screen my film. I was there at the end of April which is still a little before tourist season starts- the perfect time to visit if you ask me! Every day except for my last, the sun was shining and the evenings were cool and pleasant. It is rather expensive in Bermuda, so be prepared to spend a good amount for lodging and food. People had told me how clean Singapore is supposed to be, but Bermuda was spotless. The houses and gardens were immaculate and the city streets were pretty clean as well. A bit too much exhaust fumes from all the scooters (I highly recommend renting one during your stay to zip around), but only when you are driving behind one. Enjoy your visit!

This was an unfinish castle near Tobbaco Bay Beach. I was on way to the beach. I notice small castle like building. I took a closer look and relized it was a castle that began building in the early 1600's and then never was complete.

Going into the water and walking into the caves. The beaches, to me, are the most beautiful in the world. Dining in the dining room where the Italian waiter treated us like royalty. It was my first visit to a beautiful resort.

Hamilton

by zChris

Go to the city- Hamilton! Bermuda's capital, largest population centre, and shopping centre, home of international business and cruise ship port-of call. Feel the bustle of the streets, shop casually along the waterfront, visit Bermuda's centres of government. Hamilton is a cosmopolitan metropolis trapped in the body of a small town! Check out the Hamilton travelogue for more photos and information. Here's the view over the city from Fort Hamilton.

St. George's

by zChris

Visit historic St. George's, Bermuda's oldest town. The town features winding, crowded lanes, 17th century archtecture, and has not been spoiled by crowds and bustle that plague Hamilton. A very quiet place to reflect on history and take some very picturesque photographs. Below, the intersection of Duke of York and Duke of Kent Streets. For more informtation on St. George's, see its travelogue.

HM Rubbish Bin

by zChris

I think quite possibly the thing I'll remember most about Bermuda are the trash cans on the streets of Hamilton. Looking down and being confronted by a old-trimmed box with a coat-of-arms on it was quite shocking. Even rubbish is deposited with pomp and circumstance here, I suppose. Well, all hail Her Majesty's Rubbish Bin!

Stonehole Bay Beach

by zChris

Stonehole Bay Beach is beautiful The pink sand, towering stone cliffs, and waves crashing on the rocks make this a destination unlike any other. It is one of Bermuda's most photographed beaches, but is surprisingly deserted. It is located close enough to bus routes to be accessible but far enough away to have a rugged beauty that is almost impossible to experience anywhere else on this overcrowded isle. See the travelogue for more photos.
