Although there are several docks for cruise ships, there's only one airport. So if you are coming by plane, you will be coming in to BDA which is 560 miles east of Cape Hattaras. The airport can support aircraft of all sizes up to and including the A380

The first facility was built between 1941 and 1943 as a joint US Army Air Forces (USAAF)/Royal Air Force (RAF) base named Kindley Field. At the end of World War II, the RAF left Bermuda. The field, by then hosting civil as well as military aircraft, was operated by the United States Air Force as Kindley Air Force Base until 1970, when it was transferred to the United States Navy. The Navy operated it as US Naval Air Station, Bermuda until 1995, when it was transferred to the Bermuda Government’s Ministry of Tourism and Transport. In 1963, I arrived on a propeller driven plane - not a jet. And in 1995, when we flew in I think it was still partly a Naval Air Station.

Now, flights on many major airlines arrive in Bermuda from Chicago, Detroit, Atlanta, Miami, Toronto, Boston, New York, Philadelphia, Baltimore, Halifax and London

Saint Davids is now part of St. George's Parish. Originally it was one of the six principal, separate, Bermuda islands. It was connected to the mainland in the 1930's by the Severn Bridge, since...
