St Peter's Church

Located in St George's, St Peter’s Church is believed to be the oldest continually used Anglican church in the Western hemisphere. The originally built in 1612 from Bermuda cedar , just three years after a British vessel, bound for Jamestown, Virginia, washed onto Bermuda’s reefs during a storm. The crew and passengers, became the first inhabitants of Bermuda.Close to the back entrance of the church you can also find a 500-year old cedar tree; its branches once bore the church’s bell.

Tobacco Beach

Survivors of Sir George Somers’ ship, the Sea Venture, gave this bay its name after they discovered tobacco growing here. If you walk from St George's past the Unfinished Church towards Fort St Catherine's you'll discover Tobacco Beach . If you don't want to walk catch one of the St George’s Minibus Service’s vehicles. The bay is protected by Daliesque limestone rock formations and good for snorkeling with colourful tropical fish like parrotfish and sergeant majors. The calm, relatively shallow water has good visibility and is ideal for children.It can go from no people to lots of people in minutes depending on wether or or not a cruise ship is in!!

The Maritime Museum is a really worthwhile stop when exploring Bermuda.The KeepSeparated from Dockyard proper by its massive bastions, the six-acre Keep is an enclave within an enclave. This enormous fortress, the largest in Bermuda, is the home of Bermuda Maritime Museum. Once the citadel of the Royal Naval Dockyard, the Keep was a proud symbol of British naval might, built to guard–in conjunction with other forts–the entire naval base against attack, whether by land or sea, and to be an arsenal. It is located at the Royal Naval Dockyard, it includes eight historic exhibit buildings, the Commissioner’s House and the popular Dolphin Quest facility.The buildings house a wide array of maritime, social and military exhibits. Fort St Catherine

The original Fort ( of wood ) dates back to 1612 and has been rebuilt several times. Today it is a massive fortification complete with a moat, drawbridge, ramparts and a maze of tunnels. It is used as a museum containing period weapons, and replicas of Britain's crown jewels. An audiovisual presentation focuses on the many forts located around Bermuda.Admission is $5.00There is mini bus from the town square or you can walk in about 25 minutes.

Unfinished Church

When you visit St Geeorge's make sure you stop by the unfinished church. It was planned as a replacement for St Peter's Church and construction was started in the 1870s. It was never completed for a variety of reasons including , infighting , financial problems and a damaging storm . It's a wonderful , mystical Gothic structure and the ruins are a protected historic monument and part of the St. George's World Heritage Site.Bus route 1, 3, 10, 11

A pristine Beach

This is a beautiful quiet beach with fine sand and good for swimming. The only drawback is there are no facilities , so plan accordingly! There is Mickey D's on the beach for lunch and dinner ....a little expensive , but you can use there change rooms and toilets.If you don't want a crowd this is definitly the spot!!

Lively Horseshoe Bay Beach

Horseshoe Bay is a busy and beautiful beach. Unsurprisingly its pink sands are shaped like a horseshoe. It also boasts more facilities than any other public beach in Bermuda. There’s a concession that rents snorkelling equipment, beach chairs and umbrellas, and snack bar. There are also showers, change rooms . Horseshoe Bay can get extremely crowded especially when the cruise ships are in town.There’s also a bus stop at the entrance and as nothing is very far away in Bermuda , it is only a short drive from Hamilton. ( If you don't want to climb the hill back to the street , there's a shuttle for $1.00 to take you to the top!!)

See the Dolphins

When you visit Dockyards be sure to visit the Dolphins at Dolphin Quest. They are so entertaining and seem to enjoy doing their tricks. I just love the sounds these magnificant animals make. We saw them as part of our admission to the museum but you can get in the water with them as well .

Crystal Caves

I've been to so many caves all around the world but I have to say we really enjoyed our visit to the Crystal Caves.It's easy to get there as the bus stops right in front and for $15.00 it's well worth the visit.There are an easy 83 steps up and down ( feels like less).They are so beautiful ....snowy white and reflect in the clear 55 feet deep lwater below .What you're looking at are magnificent crystal stalactites and stalagmites .Formations on the bottom are clearly visible. There's a footpath bridge over so the whole affect is quite stunning.There is a second cave as well called Fantasy Cave and if you combine the two caves you get a discounted price of $22.00.Open from 9:00am to 5:00pm, last tour is at 4:30pm

Dolphin Quest

Dolphin Quest is at the Royal Dockyards and you can have an opportunity to swim or just touch a dolphin. Such incredible creatures. To be honest, I didn't swim or touch the dolphins, just came along near the end of their exercise or feeding session.
