BEACHES Chaplin Bay and Stonehole Bay

Between Horshoe Beach and Warwick Long Bay lie two equally enchanting beaches. I should add that all of these beaches are linked together by footpaths along South Shorte Park, the length of which is probably about 1.5 kilometers. Because you have to walk a little further and the beaches are not quite as extensive, there are fewer peo;le here, and you can frequently get a cove to yourself. The bit of privacy lets girls take their tops off, though I doubt they are quite allowed to do so. One other ujniqe thing I found here was that there are shady hollows worn into the rock formations. They can provide a bit of relief from the sun, and a bit of shelter to place your things while you swim. On a cautionary note, I would say that the dropoffs from the beach are a bit nearer and more severe here, as are the waves. Also, there are no lifeguards on any beach except Horsehoe. Still, because they offer less amenities and are almost free of people, I preferred them.

Adjacent to (and accessible from) Warwick Long Bay is the small picturesque beach called Jobson's Cove. Secluded by rock formations and with barely a channel to the ocean, the site is frequently chosen for weddings. Despite the fact that the cove is one of the most beautiful attractions on the island, on none of our three visits did we find it crowded. I highly recommend at least a pause throough Jobson's Cove if you are in the area.

Warwick Long Bay

The first thing that crossed my mind when I saw Warwick Long Bay was the Great Ocean Road in Australia. The shoreline was that beautiful, but oddly, not crowded. Apparently the cruise ships and major hotels empty out into Horshoe Bay. With a very very long stretch of beach, we found about half the beachgoers to be locals, very open to casual conversation and easy to talk to. There is a small parking area, but nothing in the way of concession stands. on the bluffs overlooking the beach is a large playground for kids and some walking trails that link different sections of the beach. Next door Jobson's Cove is where a lot of people choose ot have weddings.

Astwood Cove -- This is a nice hike down a steep incline, this beautiful and dramatic beach is still a relatively secret spot. It's really worth the climb if you love generally secluded beach spots. But around every corner is one more even more beautiful than the last beach in Bermuda.
