    A cave is a cave

by gcmm Written Mar 31, 2004

    4.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

There are afew caves which you may go into in Bermuda, this was in Crystal caves. If you have been in caves before than this is no big deal, there is really nothing all to special about them....The water is very clear, and deep,30-40 feet but that's about it.

Unique Suggestions: If you have never been in any cavern or cave than you might want visit one of them. They are neat to see ...

Fun Alternatives: There are other things to do around Bermuda that will be more fun..
    Rent a scooter
    explore caves on the beach
    play golf
    see some other sites
    go shopping

    Watch your spending!

    by Lady-Charisma Written Jan 14, 2005

    4.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

In comparison to expenses in America, the cost for everything is maybe double the amount. Think twice about spending...

Unique Suggestions: If you must go shopping, bring more money than you would estimate for a vacation trip.

Fun Alternatives: Purchase any basic necessities you might need before you travel and try to control your spending.

I don't no if this is still there but if Devils hole is still around please do not go there.
In short it is a small fishing hole which is said to be part of th island and in it are turtles , sharks and all kinds of fish. They get you there buy saying you can fish for the fish and if you catch one you get something in return.
Well we did not see anyone catch anything
You also use there poles with salt pork or something on the hook, trust me they never will bite...

Unique Suggestions: Please do not even go....

    Fun Alternatives: see other tips

    Dockyards - ick.

by Seabiscuit Updated Aug 26, 2005

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

I really wasn't too interested in this type of thing. I mean, it's cool and all, but when I lived in Bermuda, I went down there mainly because I wasn't driving, and I was told "everyone has to see it at least once". The Museum was just under construction at the time, so it was a pretty hulking shell, being transformed into an upscale 'flea-market'. Many Bermudians were not too happy about it.

Unique Suggestions: The views *are* spectacular, though. To look north-east over the Great Sound is awesome! You actually see many of the 365 mini-islands that make up Bermuda.

Fun Alternatives: Walk around, just walk around and see the boats and other things that aren't contained within the structure (you'll know it when you see it).

    Do not rent Scooters!

    by peterd1331 Written Aug 7, 2006

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

There are many comon senseical reasons not to rent scooters on Marco Island:
    - The roads are narrow, dangerous and are opposite for Americans
    - They are not always as reliable as you would hope
    - There are too many stupid tourists who are bad driver renting them already
    - They are rip-offs
    - The busses are cheap!
    - Walking is nice
    - There are even bike paths - rent bikes!

Unique Suggestions: - Be very careful
    - Drive slowly
    - Keep tank as full as possible
    - Lock it up at night
    - Enjoy anyway, but be careful and alert!

Fun Alternatives: You should either :
    - Invest in the bus system (very cheap)
    - Rent a bike
    - Walk as much as possible and take busses when necessary
    - Take taxies (a little expensive, but they will also priovide tours of the island if you ask for a good price)

Keep your vacation like this, not the hospital

    Crystal Cave. See the picture...

by Beanie Written Sep 7, 2002

    1.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Crystal Cave. See the picture to the left. That's all, that's all you see when you go in there. Save yourself some $$ and do some other activities. There is a cave, a 'real cave' hidden in the woods near Swizzle Inn, it goes one or two miles long. Some friend's fried first discovered it and we heard stories of them went in there with nothing but their flash light. Because the cave is very deep, after they spent some time in there, the battery went out. It was completely dark! You can't see your own fingers even you put them in front of you. They ended up feeling and crowling their way out of the cave.

Well, it wasn't that bad for our experience. We went in with 3 flash lights and extra batteries. We also had our DV camera and a digital camera with super flash light. As soon as we climbed 40 ft into the mouth of the cave, we can't see very well. The light started to go out. It was very steep, some parts of it have ropes for people to climb, most parts don't. It is very dangerous. Especially, there was a stream running thru the cave, to the left was a 90 degree cliff. We were walking on the path next to the cliff. It was scary, but fun. After one and half hours, we had enough this spelunking experience. We climbed out. I wish I could find my digital pictures and show you all. It's definitely more exciting than 1000 visits to the crystal cave.

I talk to some locals about that cave, nobody has ever heard of nor been to. Weird.

Anyways, if you are the adventurous sort. I definitely recommand you to try. But at your own risks. (That's if you can find the place.)

  • Harbor nights...I don't know...

by Khryssie Written Aug 26, 2002

Harbor nights...I don't know if this is an all year thing. But Wednesday nights is sort of like a street vendor thing, on Front street. Music, entertainment, happy hour, food. Be careful, a lot of vendors are selling stuff that are NOT actually made in Bermuda.

  • Main Street in Hamilton is...

by TerryP Written Aug 24, 2002

    1.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Main Street in Hamilton is nice for window shopping but the majority of the stores are over-priced because everything has to be imported. The hardest part of buying soveniers here was finding something that was actually made in Bermuda. Don't look for these shops to be of any help.

  • The Royal Naval Yard

by zChris Updated Jun 17, 2003

    1.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

While it does contain interesting architecture and items of historical interest, the Naval Yard for the most part was nothing more than a large mall catering to tourists. The museum there was a monstrous overcharge and the shops were little more than duplicates of those on Front Street in Hamilton. I must admit there are some good restaurants and, being somewhat of a military enthusiast, I was glued to the many cannons sprewed about the place. If anything, spend your time there exploring the courtyards and outstructures, the main hall is overcommercial.

  • DO NOT GO to Dennis' Hideaway...

by chisono Written Aug 24, 2002

    0.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

DO NOT GO to Dennis' Hideaway no matter how good the reviews are. We went and it was our only unpleasant experience in our many trips to Bermuda. Not only didn't they have the ingredients for the 'fish dinner with the works', they had no ingredients at all. We were offered a choice of fried shrimp or fried fish (both came with french fries), When we ordered, Sea Dog (the owner's son) got on his motor bike and toodled off to get the fish. Dennis's is so out of the way that it cost us $25 each way (from Harrington Sound). Then our basic 'fish and chips' dinner cost us another $25 each bringing the total to $100!!! By the time we got back to the hotel, we were starving. This is definitely a 'DO NOT GO' place.

    Made in...where?

    by nmeade09 Written Feb 11, 2010

If you go looking for souvenirs or other things, may sure you look to see where it was made. Keep in mind that this is an island and many things are imported. I bought a rum-flavored chocolate candy bar and thought I was eating authentic Bermudian chocolate. Then, I looked at the label and it was manufactured in New Jersey!
