  • From the airport, depending on where your hotel is, you can take a bus or a taxi. The buses are kind of scary because the roads are so narrow they get about 5'-1' from the stone walls! Don't stick your arms out!
Many people use bicycles and mopeds. You can't rent either at several different places.

The best way to get to Bermuda is by plane...I flew in from Boston, Massachusettes...The flight is a little over two hours...I was very lucky to have a friend that lived there that had arranged to pick me up from the airport and wisk me away to his very cool home...
Again, it's really nice to have a local show you around, especially drive for you...Bermuda has been known for tourists getting into motorbike accidents...Do not become a statistic! Be safe and drive sober!! Don't pull any stunts here, it's really not worth it...

The best way is to rent a moped ( please buy a life insurance policy with me as you beneficiary). They cost about 40.00 USD per day or the bus. Non natives are not allowed to drive a car in the island. At night just rent a taxi, they are plentifull

Again, I repeat, they don't rent cars on the islands... but there are buses (pretty expensive) and ferries (very interesting).

Ferry prices are good and you can see great things (see travelogue).

Mopped. You can't rent a car on the island. But be carefull with these things! See below what happened to me! BTW they deliver the moped to your place (hotel). It cost around 35$US/day, 59$US/2 days...

We went to Hamilton, one of, if not, the principal town in Bermuda. We parked on Front Street. As it’s name is mentioning, it is the street that border the water front, the street of the port. When I tried to park, I still had 1 or 2 meters to reach the parking space. Since I had difficulty to push my moped, I decided to give just enough gaz (with the handle, if you don’t know). Suddenly, the machine is jumping ahead and the more I am trying to break, the more it is going forward! I jumped in the other mopeds parked in front of me. I finally stopped with a little scream out of fear. Alain looked at me shocked. I tried to get out of there, but Alain had to come help me because I was stuck, each leg jammed between my moped and the others. We looked to see the damages but absolutely nothing! Me however, ouch! I had (and still have, 3 months later) 2 big scratchs on my tibias and my wedding ring was scrare!

Alain and I realised that if I had been in the other direction, I would have fall in the ocean after falling a wall of multiple meters!

Finally, during the afternoon, trying the same thing to park, I ran into a wall. Again, no damaged for the moped, but for me, a good headhache and the fear to take the road again. We discovered that when I was giving a little of gaz, just enough for a short distance, the moped was giving a shock, pushing my body back, as a result, even if I was trying to break with my left, my right hand was giving more gaz. I swear that after, each time I had to park, I took my right hand off the handle, keeping it very high in the air. It made my husband laugh, each time! I won’t make the same mistake!!!

Rental cars are not permitted in Bermuda. However, the most popular way to get around is by motor scooter. You can also get around by bus, taxi, bicycle, ferry, or by horse and carriage.

Learning to ride a Moped is pretty easy, but BE CAREFUL!! Locals might drive higher powered machines and go much faster than you. Also you must remember to DRIVE ON THE LEFT! And even then, I was hit head on by a new driver who was driving on the right, though she was from the island. Every year there are many tourists injured, some even fatally.
Taxis are expensive, but so is everything there, and maybe a driver is worth it? You decide, mopeds are fun...
Also travel by boat, cycling or walking are the ways to go.
Travel by sea turtle whenever possible.
For mopeds, Oleander Cycles are very reliable, well-established and helpful. They have a 24 hour service line.

The best way to get there is by sailing ship. It took three weeks to sail from Europe to Bermuda but it was worth it....

Get a moped!! It's quite fun to cruise around without being part of some tour and discover your own favorite places. The traffic is only 20 mph so it is pretty safe.(stay left!)The locals will generally know you are a tourist and just buzz around you.
**note** (the 2 girls you see behind me)thier boyfriends crashed on mopeds (drunk probably) and were hobbling around the rest on the trip with casts and bandages. yuk!
