100 cc Peugeot "Elysio" Bike

by Seabiscuit

Well, it's not *really* a motorcycle, but it's transportation. Tourists can only rent a 50 cc bike, but that's good enough. When I first moved to Bermuda, I lived at the Palmetto Bay Hotel (gone now), and there was an intersection (3-way) just in front of the property. I had the pleasure of watching 2 tourists run into each other, head on, but it wasn't too bad. They hit front wheel to front wheel and just bounced off each other. It was hysterical! (Nobody was hurt... just embarassed!).

Moped Around CAREFULLY!

by maitEifion

Learning to ride a Moped is pretty easy, but BE CAREFUL!! Locals might drive higher powered machines and go much faster than you. Also you must remember to DRIVE ON THE LEFT! And even then, I was hit head on by a new driver who was driving on the right, though she was from the island. Every year there are many tourists injured, some even fatally.Taxis are expensive, but so is everything there, and maybe a driver is worth it? You decide, mopeds are fun...Also travel by boat, cycling or walking are the ways to go. Travel by sea turtle whenever possible. For mopeds, Oleander Cycles are very reliable, well-established and helpful. They have a 24 hour service line.

Use busses or hire a moped,

by Live4Fun

Busses get you just about anywhere on Bermuda because its so small. Bermudans are so friendly, the bus drivers often stop when driving the bus to say hello to people! You can easily hire mopeds on Bermuda, but dont forget to take your driving licence!

Bikes are nice but dangerous.

by Jus_desireable

Though renting a scooter sounds nice, please be careful with this. Your typical training session is just going to consist of riding down a small path, showing you the brakes, and wear to put gas. My advise, if you have a pedal bike, try riding it as much as possible before coming as it will be similar to riding a moped or scooter. Plus you dont want to take home the ill-fated trademark of your bike trip in Bermuda - roadrash!!

Trans: Getting AroundPink airconditioned buses serve most locations islandwide on a frequent basis. Renting a moped is a great way to freely move about the island. It is a popular way to enjoy the fresh air and captivating scenery of the island. Bermuda is only 21 miles long and the speed limit is 20 mph so getting around is easy and fun.

by nuker

From the airport, depending on where your hotel is, you can take a bus or a taxi. The buses are kind of scary because the roads are so narrow they get about 5'-1' from the stone walls! Don't stick your arms out! Many people use bicycles and mopeds. You can't rent either at several different places.

by mrsmm2

Regular commercial flights from USMany cruise ships call at Bermuda from 1 to 4 nightsThe Bus is your best bet. Easy to follow schedules and you can go almost anywhere. Best way to mingle with the locals. Taxis are your best bet if you want a guided tour but beware to note if the cab you choose has air conditioning or not (especially if you are there in the summer months).

The best way to get to Bermuda...

by Juju_of_Lyra

The best way to get to Bermuda is by plane...I flew in from Boston, Massachusettes...The flight is a little over two hours...I was very lucky to have a friend that lived there that had arranged to pick me up from the airport and wisk me away to his very cool home...Again, it's really nice to have a local show you around, especially drive for you...Bermuda has been known for tourists getting into motorbike accidents...Do not become a statistic! Be safe and drive sober!! Don't pull any stunts here, it's really not worth it...

One way in , one way out ......

by vpr

One way in , one way out ... by big plane or big boatThe best way is to rent a moped ( please buy a life insurance policy with me as you beneficiary). They cost about 40.00 USD per day or the bus. Non natives are not allowed to drive a car in the island. At night just rent a taxi, they are plentifull

Plane, of course!!!

by Chrystalain

Mopped. You can't rent a car on the island. But be carefull with these things! See below what happened to me! BTW they deliver the moped to your place (hotel). It cost around 35$US/day, 59$US/2 days...OLEANDER CYCLES236-BIKE (2453)e-mail : inquiries@oleandercycles.bmhttp://www.oleandercycles.bm/We went to Hamilton, one of, if not, the principal town in Bermuda. We parked on Front Street. As it’s name is mentioning, it is the street that border the water front, the street of the port. When I tried to park, I still had 1 or 2 meters to reach the parking space. Since I had difficulty to push my moped, I decided to give just enough gaz (with the handle, if you don’t know). Suddenly, the machine is jumping ahead and the more I am trying to break, the more it is going forward! I jumped in the other mopeds parked in front of me. I finally stopped with a little scream out of fear. Alain looked...
